Cramping and overstimulated ovaries

Cramping and overstimulated ovaries

As some of you know, I've had a good bit of cramping since my IUI last Friday.  I finally called my RE about the cramping.  I have to go in tomorrow, but the nurse said that more than likely I have an overstimulated ovary.  Does anyone know anything about being overstimulated?? Any information is appreciated!!!!
Thanks!

That can occur with Clomid since it stimulates ovaries.  Did you take Clomid?   When I read your other post I wondered if maybe it was ectopic, but not sure if there's been enough time for that.  I pray that's not what it is.

I've never experienced overstimulated ovaries, but it sounds painful. :(  I'm sorry and I hope eveything is okay and the IUI took!!  *hugs*

If it is overstimulated ovaries, the majority of the time your body heals on it's own.  It's only in those odd circumstances where it's a real danger.  For the most part, it's just dealing with the pain and being uncomfortable until it gets better.

Thanks for you comments.  No I wasn't on Clomid on this cycle...I was on Follistim injections with the IUI.  Do you know if this problem with overstimulated ovaries affect the chances of getting pregnant with the IUI I had 6 days ago?

Thank you for the link to that website.  I read the information and I'm just praying that I am not "hyperstimulated".  I did post a question on www.haveababy.com

This website has Dr's that answer all sorts of questions.  He wrote that because my estrogen was 1300 and my progesterone was 41, he believed that my ovaries were NOT over stimulated.

Thanks again for your thoughts!!!  Good luck to everyone this month!  You are all in my prayers!!

I found this link below that may provide some info for you...and though one portion of it is rather scary, I think it's best you know what signs to look for.

Hi,

I am new to this. At the beginning of January I started my first ICSI cycle. I produced 4 good quaility egss, which went onto produce 2 perfect little embryos - the clinic said that. We found out last week that we are pregnant which is great and we are delighted. This is however overshadowed by the fact I have just found out that I have overstimulated ovaries. This is causing me pain and also a build up of fluid in my uterus. Our little embryo is growing fast as we have been able to see a little sack on the scan. I should have noticed last week. The first sign was that my tummy was very bloated. I put this down to all the drugs but didn't think of my ovaries. Also, I could not get comfortable at all. I could not sit for too long nor could I stand for too long. Then I had a bleed which made me panic but the blood test and scan a couple of days later revealed that the baby was fine. The swelling went down but I am still getting cramps and still have liduid in my uterus that is coming out. The cramps can get quite bad. I know all this will pass and in a few weeks I will be able to relax and celebrate the fact that I got pregnant on our first cycle. So to anyone out there going for their first cycle -it can work the first time. Also, look out for the signs of overstimulation.
