Does losing weight affect fertility?

Hi, I am a 24 year old female. I lost 27 lbs and am now about 10 lbs away from being a healthy weight. I used to never exercise, but I have now been exercising for almost a year. My husband and I really want a baby. We haven't been trying by charting or anything, but have just been letting whatever happen. I am surprised I haven't became pregnant yet because it has been almost a year since we've decided we are ready for a baby. Does me losing weight affect my fertility? I was wondering if my weight changing may be affecting me getting pregnant since my body is trying to reach a new equilibrium.

Your losing weight will only help. Especially if you are overweight to begin with. Reaching a healthy goal and maintaining it in pregnanacy is excellent. Take your folic acid and pre-natals and continue to chart your temperatures. Hopefully, there will be good news soon...

I think if you are putting yourself on a strict diet it might. I remember reading once that can make your body not get pregnant. But the weight loss should actually help. My dr told me to lose weight so that i can ovulate. Hope this helps.

If anything. . . you losing the weight to be closer to that healthy weight for you should increase your fertility. . .often times someone losing 5-10% of their body weight (if they are overweight or not at their ideal weight) will help them to conceive.

Congradulations on the weight loss. . .
