Embryo Transfer for IVF

Embryo Transfer for IVF

I just had 13 eggs retrieved two days ago...only 3 eggs fertilized and now we are waiting for them to transfer either on Day 3 (tomorrow Thursday) or Day 5 Saturday...I am nervous about the 3 embryos not making it to Day 3 or Day 5...has anyone else had the same situation?

This is my first IVF cycle and I am 39 years old.

HI there-

I had a similar situation....I did my first IVF in August.  Had 12 eggs retrieved, only 4 fertilized.  We did a day 5 transfer.  We had 2 transferred (mediocre quality) and the other 2 had to be discarded.  I am currently 7w4d pregnant.  So don't give up hope!  It can happen.  Wishing you the best of luck.

hi. i actually just had a similar thing happen to me. I had my er this past saturday. 25 eggs were retrieved...great numbers they said...i was psyched. we got a call sunday saying that 20 were mature enough, but only 4 fertilized. i was somewhat disappointed since we were told they like to see about 50% fertilize & we had 20% fertilze. anyways, i had a 3dt yesterday...out of the 4 that fertilized, 3 were 8-cell embryos, which is ideal so i was happy about that, & the 4th one was a 4-cell embryo. they transferred 2 of the 3 8-cell embryos. the other one & the 4-cell will possibly be frozen, depending on how the 4-cell does. we'll find out in several weeks. if you're not getting any calls that's good....no news is good news. they would've called you if the embryos weren't developing properly. be strong & positive. keep us updated!

Hi.  I had a somewhat similar situation.  I did my first IVF this past July & I'm 37 years old.  They retrieved 21 and fertilized 19, but we were only transferring one embryo due to my t-shaped uterus (meaning it's basically smaller than normal, so my doc was trying to avoid multiples).  So, we only transferred one embryo & it stuck... and then it split!  Tomorrow we'll be 12 weeks pregnant with twins! So, best wishes & don't ever count yourself out =)

Hi ladies...I am back from my transfer yesterday and I think all went well...they did in fact transfer all 3 embryos...one 8 cell and two 6 cell...I am relieved that they all made it to day 3...now I just wait for the pregnancy test which is in 10 days...I actually feel good, so much better than after the retrieval...

Allie_44107-they transferred 2 for you...did both of them take?

Congrats on the transfer!!  I am wishing you the best of luck!!!  they did transfer 2-the other 2 unfortunatey had to be discarded so we couldn't freeze any.  I am currently 7w6d pregnant with 1 little one!  We saw the heartbeat last week.  IVF really does work-make sure you take it easy and keep us posted!

Hi there. This is my first IVF cycle. I am 31 years old. I had 10 eggs retrieved of which 4 fertilised. 2 were transferred at the morula stage of development i.e. one stage before blastocyst. What are the chances of a pregnancy? Has anyone had the transfer at the morula stage?
