Endometriosis surgery

Hi Ladies!
I am scheduled to have laprascopic surgery in the morning.  The RE will be checking for endometriosis, scar tissue, etc....

After a year of treatment, two IUI's and lots of injections, I just pray that what ever the Dr. finds, she can correct it to improve our chances.

Has anyone had this surgery?  If so, please share your experiences!

HI there!

I had this done in June of 2010. The anesthesia made me sick!  Although I was completely knocked out for it lol, waking up and being nauseous, throwing up was the worst part.  My pain lasted about 3 days, but after that it was off and on.  Nothing constant.  I did have the bloating, that lasted about 5 days.  Some spotting for about 2 days and I had the shoulder pain from the gas they used.  Other than that it was okay.  Nothing major and yes I'd do it again. I do recommend that you get some Gas-X or something like that to help get rid of some of the gas they use.

I really wish you the best!!   They removed endometriosis, a cyst from my fallopain tubes and a polyp in the middle of my cervix through hysteroscopy.  When are you suppose to have your surgery?  Please let us know how it goes!! Take care hun, If you have anymore questions feel free to message me. :)

I had the lap done in April... I had very similar situation that you did - IUI's not working, no answers, but no symptoms of endo, either.  Well, they founds lots of endo and now I am on Lupron for 6 months to get rid of it.  The good news is that they think that was what caused the infertility.  Hopefully you will get the answers you need form this!
The actual surgery was not bad at all !  The recovery wasn't bad either, but when they tell you sleep upright for a few days - LISTEN, if the gas travels to your chest is HURTS!!
Good luck :)

I had 3 laperoscapys
1- to remove a cyst the size of a baseball (and apendisitis) In the hospital for a week
2- remove scar tissue from the first surgery.  same day surgery felt better by next day but bloated.
3- Horrible endometriosis my stomache was huge after for about 2 weeks.  I had so much less pain though because it had gotten so bad it hurt to have sex or bm.  I felt great for about 2 months and then felt it coming back so I did 6 mon of lupron and then after finishing that had some bleeding problems that were non stop so they did a D&C and next month I got prego on 50mg of clomid.

DS is now 17months and I just got a BFP today after trying for 8 months :)

GOOD LUCK TOMORROW!!! buy some good magazines to read when you get home and take it easy.

I had the surgery too and they found nothing.  My recovery was also a couple days.  I took motrin or tylonal (can't remember) for pain.  Good luck tomorrow!!!

I had the surgery done on a Friday in June.   They found nothing so that might be why I had an easy recovery.  I was a little sore for a few days so I was forced to take it easy.   I did not need any of the pain pills.
Best of luck to you!!!

I had the surgery in 01'. they tell you its no big deal--and its really not, but the recovery time is longer than the 3-7 days they tell you. It took me about 6 weeks to get fully right, but it was a very helpful surgery. i had 6 months of lupron following the surgery and it helped my pain signficantly.
Side Effects:
pain and bleeding for a couple of weeks
overall soreness
emotional rollercoaster (especially if you get the lupron)
if you work in an office, you should be fine to go back to work after a few days, but take it easy. if you have a more active job, it may be a little longer.
This will pass and in my case was very helpful. Good luck tomorrow.

Hi!  I had the laprascopic surgery done in 4/06.  The RE wanted to check for endometriosis and my tubs.  After the surgery we were told I had some endometriosis and my tubs were closed!  The surgery went well but I was in ALOT of pain the 1st week after the surgery.  We also did three IUI's and those did not work!  The IUI's were done before the surgery maybe that's why they did not work.  Let me know if you have any questions.
