Estrace and Prometrium

Does anyone take estrace and prometrium?  I have googled information on those, but not finding what I want.

I did take estrace and prometium on my 3rd ivf cycle.  What did you need to know?

Did you have any s/e?  I have all of the sudden started to get nauseated today and I have been on them since May 10.  Not sure if the meds are causing me to feel this way?  What are the actual purposes of each?  I take 200 mg. of Prometrium 3xdaily and 2mg. of estrace 3xdaily.

I took 2 prometrium pills at night just because they make me very dizzy and there was no way I could take them in the morning and be able to function at work.  The estace I took 2x a day and I had chest pain with them.    The prometrium is progestrone and that is to help with your lining.  I was also told that estace, which is estrogen was supposed to help me with my lining and my Doctor also told me it helps my chances with getting pregnant.  Good luck this month.  I hope you get a bfp!!!!

Thank you.  I am just sick of taking them.  I feel disgusting all day.  It is like having a yeast infection.  My dh wants to bd and I have not been able to since starting these.  I feel disgusting.  Sorry!

Are the prometrium pills or the supp. that you are taking?

They are the pills but I have to take them vaginally.  Another question I have is will the either one of the pills effect a hpt?  I am considering on whether I should take a hpt tomorrow morning or not, but it would be unnecessary if the pills will effect the test.

Ok, I took progestriume pills, not the supp. pills.  I was also doing supp. but they were the endrometrine 3x a day.  The vaginally supp. can cause infections.  If you do decide to take an HPT the premetrium will not effect it.  Good luck!!!

i take estrogen
I took the estrogen capsules two other pregnancies this time suppositories

My doc had me ohn estrace 2mg 4x a day - I knew that was too much (from previous pregs )  so I went down to 3x a day - then I read on the internet that estrogen is cause of nausea - so (without asking doc)  I went down to 1 mg in am, 1 mg in midday, and 2 mg at night - hopefully this is OK - Babies seem ok!

Thanks.  Maybe that is what is causing my nausea, however, I have been on the estrogen since May 4.  I don't understand why it would effect me now.

Another question for either one of you.  Did either of the medicines cause AF to be delayed?  Did you have AF symptoms while taking them.

I would love to know the answer to that as well. I am on prometrium supp. (progesterone) 100 mg 3x's day. My dr said to take them until either I get my period or a Positive HPT. I started them on May 4th... They are gross. I am about 19 dpo, and had a neg. HPT 16 dpo. My nurse said that was too soon and I should test this Saturday instead. I am waiting a call from my Dr. I don't want to be on the prometrium for ever! I am wondering if I can get my AF while on the Prometrium, or if my dr. just was not thinking when she gave me the direction.

I took all of the above.  I hated the prometrium more than words can explain.  When they put me on those painful progesterone shots I didn't care as I would rather feel the pain of the shot for a little while (they go into the muscle and really hurt) as apposed to being slimey panties.  I couldn't stand the slime and it killed my sex life.

Hormones have all sorts of side effects.  The weird thing is my side effects change each time I am on them.  The estrogen has made me nausiated once - even on a low dose.  I guess this is why every pregnancy is different.  

My AF was a little delayed but I think that it was because it takes a few days to get those higher doses of hormones out of your system.  You can't start until the levels drop to a certain low level.

UGGHHH!  I hate them too.  I feel yucky!  It has decreased the sex life too.  Fortunately, dh has been somewhat understanding.  I am going to have to give in at some point though.  I was just wondering if I would start AF while on them or not.
