FET & Baby Asprin

Hey all,

I have beeen reading about baby asprin & pineapple and its effects with helping with IVF.  Last month I had my first failed IVF and now have one embryo for a FET.  Nect month I am going to do the FET (frozen embryo transfer).

The current medicine protocol is estrace pills and progestrion in oil.  I keep reading about baby asprin.  when do you take it?  The whole time so should I start now?  Anyone know about the pineapple?  when do you start taking that?  I have read the day of the transfer for 4-5 days after or its bad.

Anyone with a FET use asprin and pineapple and it worked?

Thanks!!

Wow, we're alike in 1 area!  Onl a few of our friends know, and that's it.  I too must come up with reasons I don't want a drink : )  Since our embryos were icsi'd(hense the embryo part) my hubby doesn't have to refrain... but still....

we have an RE here in town, but I went to them first and didn't like them.  I actually took about a 2 yr break after seeing them they upset me so bad.... then I just decided to go somewhere else.  I really like them, although you know how those little doubts crawl into your mind, and I am hopeful.  Expecially because the first one did work... I never expected it to work the first time....

Oh, yes, the lovely thaw!!!  The part I am learning to dread!  Yes, when they thaw out they start dividing... when I did i the first time they thawed 4, and 2 of them divided into 4.  and one was lagging a little, but they implanted it anyway, 1 didn't make it.   This last time, only 2 made it and they were only 2 cells, one wasn't ideal, and  2 didn't make it.  I guess it's a crap shoot.  They thaw them for 24 hours, and implant them.  they said the most they let them them thaw is 24 hrs.

So your embie just needs to survive the thaw... and it's an awesome chance it will take : )   I have Faith!!!

Yes, I agree the forum is The Greatest!!!  I care about so many people on here!  Their journey's are fastenating!!!  And I've figured that more then 1/2 the people on here have gotten pregnant since February!  Those are AWESOME odds!!!

Gosh, two hours away, I am very lucky ours is 1 hour away but they have a doctors office they opened that is affiliated with them and its only 5 minutes away.  So i do everything at this satellite office and only have to drive an hour for transfers or retrivals, its super nice.  they only opened it a few years ago, so its probably a good thing we waited a bit.  I cant imagine taking time off for work constantly to go to doctors appointments.

My one embryo was frozen at the blast stage from what they told me when they transfered it.  I guess my hope is that it thaws correctly and we get a chance to try to implant it ohhhhh then wait the two weeks to find out (sigh).

So when they start to thaw them do they start dividing right away and that tells the doctors that they are viable?

I am so happy your deciding to go forward with the FET, at least you know that it has worked one time, I havent even be able to get that far (of course I have tried less to) so that is another worry although I dont have any problems that I am aware of.

My family has no clue we are doing this either, nor do our friends.  Its hard to not go out and drink and come up with excuses why we cant drink (we were drinkers before) so everyone wonders what the deal is but its not like I am pregers and can say that.  Its so hard.

Thank you so much for your help through this, on this site there is so much more information to read that what my RE tells me. I know they cant tell us everythign but its nice read up on others trials and tribulations!

I haven't decided on the acupuncture yet.  My next few wks are really busy... What I am seriously thinking about is going after the FET.  Don't know it that will help, but that's what I'm considering.  I just have so much going on with doc appts... our RE is 2hrs from our home.
I am not sure exactly how the refund program works, since we didn't use it.  FET's are much cheaper, but I do think they should come up with a refund program for that too.

I called yesterday, and my eggs were frozen at the pronuclear stage.  From what I can find, they have a higher survival rate of thawing at about 78% when icsi'd, but the only problem is, you don't know how they are going to do after they thaw, you don't know if they are going to divide or not.    Which explains the poor quality last time.  What stage was yours frozen at?
Man, this stuff is soooo STRESSFUL!!!  Ugh!!  The most madding thing is, the first one worked!!!, I just miscarried due to uterus issues!  I just want those eggs back!!!! : (
My appointment is actually March 18.  My DH and I talked about it yesterday, and we're just going to go for it.  So, my FET will be on March 23rd.  *as long as my uterus looks good on the 18th*

Yes, the waiting is the worst!  I agree!!!  I'm glad I have people like you to talk to though!  That makes the days seem more bearable!!!!!!
Baby Dust and Sticky Babies to You!  And I hope AF comes Soon!!!!!

so actupuncture went well huh?  have you decided if your going to continue and go back?
When you say your program offers you six tries, does that include the whole entire IVF (shots and the whole nine yards) or does that include FET to?  If you get to do another IVF (retrival ect) then 6 times for that price isnt bad.  Yeah they told me the same thing, my failed transfer they transfered 1excelledt grade A but still didnt take.

Did you find out what stage yours were frozen at?  Isnt the better the quality the best?  Our one was excellent so i am keeping my fingers crossed it thaws,  They told me if we do another round of IVF that they will tranfer two this time (different protocol).
Of course they want you to get preg or their statistics go wayyy down:)

So its friday now, how did your doctor appt go on thursday, are you going to go for it?  If so any idea with the transfer will be,.  I am stuck waiting for good ole aunt flow and it should happen within the next few weesk.

I think the waiting in between time is really the worst!!

Thanks on the not being old thing  : ) acupuncture  went well, it was relaxing....but the said i would need to go several x's a week for several weeks before i'd see results.  that was kind of a bummer.  don't know if i'll go back or not.
That's awesome about the program!!!!  I wish we could have done that, the only program ous offers is 6 tries for 28,000 if it doesn't work, you get all but 5,000 back. (we used donor eggs) They assured us by from the way our embryos looked, we wouldn't need it.... I hope there right!!!!!
yep, we did icsi.  I am going to call tomorrow to see what stage they frozen at.  They have actually been frozen since last may, and somewhere along the way, i've forgotten.  It's been a long long year! ha ha!

I'm going to go to my doc appt on thursday and see how i feel after.  I think we're going to go for it though : )     I have to see this through... If I don't try, it's never going to happen.

Your not an old lady:)  I just finished with IVF last month, so basically we had to wait for good old aunt flow and then now I am waiting for new aunt flow so i can start taking the estrace and oil eventually.  so basically we are doing the FET right away.  I think what I was meaning to say was the transfer wont be done til probably the first week of april or so.
I did get some good news today, we are currently in the warranty program (basically three tries and you get your money back (we only had one embryo implanted and one that met thier criteria to freeze) so if the FET doesnt work we get about 98% of our money back (15k).  Today when I talked to the nurse they told me that i can actually get into the warranty program AGAIN even if this doesnt work.  I meet the criteria (under 35 and had at least 5 embies fertilize, we had 6).  this is awesome news because if this FET doesnt work then we get our money back.  We planned on doing IVF #2 (11k this time) with no warranty. So this is good news, we wont know if we qualify until after this FET.  I am keeping my fingers crossed this works and it doesnt come to that!

This next protocol they told me higher dosages of lupride, follism and repronex.  I think all of them worked but they had me on lower dosages then higher and then went lower.  So my doctor said it took me longer so they would up the dosage this time to the highest one.

Did you do icsi?  we had to have that.

How did your acupuncture appointment go, did you make a decision?  You should do it with you know your whole christmas issue:)))))

I'm an old lady! ha ha!  I'll be 43. I didn't get married until I was 35, and my DH wanted to wait 6 months before we started trying.  SO.....
I guess what i was asking was we did our last FET on Feb 15th.  and can do another one on March 23.  What date did you do your IVF?  I just didn't understand why you had to wait till april, I guess.  We harvested 23 eggs and 19 fertilized and were frozen.  We have 11 left.  They thaw out 4 every time.

Do you know what new protocol they are going to use?  I pray your FET works, then you won't have to worry about it!!!!  Have you checked into any of the refund programs offered?  I've seen them for like 6 tries for a certain amount if your under 36, and if it doesn't work you get all back but like 5,000?

I keep going back and forth on wether to go in March, I really need to stop stressing about it and just make a decision.  I am going for my first acupuncture appt tonight.  I will see what they say and make a firm decision tonight.  : )

We are close in birthdays, how old are you going to be if you mind me asking.  I am 32 gonna be 33.

Oh I think you should try even if you get pregnat and the baby is due in december, your right it probably will happen just because you didnt want it to that month:)

I am not sure what you mean about back to back cycles, we are going to do a FET  this month if our one embryo thaws correctly.  THen if that doesnt work we are going to start our second IVF as soon as we can.  Our protocl will be different the next time around because I was slow to stimulate so i will probably be on max doses next time around.  this last time we only had two, one to implant one to save,  I think if my medication would have been higher we would have had more to freeze.

Do you have a lot of embroys left for FET?

Mine is April 15th : )   We're really close on b-days : )   I keep going back and forth about trying this month.  I really really want to, but then again, if it works, it would be a December baby.  My DH and I keept saying for 7 yrs that that was the only thing we didn't want.  A december baby.  But then I thought... WOW, It's probably guarenteed to work because we did keep saying that! ha ha!!!!  Did you guys decide not to to back to back cycles?

Mine is on April 20th,  when is yours?  I am going to talk with my nurse about the baby asprin, the pineaple i cant see messing anything up.  Hopefully my embryo makes it to the thawing stage, It was a good embryo, the first one they implanted was a excellent.  If this doesnt work next step is to try another round of IVF, they said they would implant two this next go around

Kricket212:  We are hoping that this FET works, our insurance doesnt cover IVF at all.  We are in a warranty program and have to try up to two FET before they give us our money back.  So we dont really have a choice but to do the one FET this time.  If this doesnt work we are going to try again but will have to pay around 12k out of pocket with no refund.  The next time around we are going to try a different protocol  because I was slow to respond to the medicines.

MVH:  I will ask my RE, basically I have to wait until aunt flow starts which should be around the end of the month, so I am looking at a FET in early April, hopefully it will work and I will be preg for my birthday (Fingers crossed).

Enough 2356:  Hopefully your FET  worked, was this your first?

Thanks all for your help!

The baby asprin helps to build the uterus.  Please ask your RE about taking it, as it also thins the blood.  I am going to try the pineapple, pineapple core thing though : )
I am getting ready for my 3rd FET, and am Hoping it is Successful!  When are you going to do your ET?

Why don't you do another fresh cycle & then include the left over embryos from that cycle with this one that you have left.  This way when you prepare for FET you may have more then one to transfer???
