Failed donor egg cycle

Hello,
Has anybody failed in a donor egg cycle? I haven't started my first donor egg cycle. As far as I have seen, in all forums that I have visited, everybody seems to conceive in their first cycle ? I would like to know what would be the average number of tries needed before success..
Thanks.

I'm glad to hear it worked out for you.  I am on my second cycle using DE- FET was 9 days ago using 2 hatching blasts of 5AB and 5BB and HPT was neg this am.  I was so sure it would work this time with 2 such high quality blasts. We used a 2 X proven donor.  She had great results and we will still have 5 frosties but I'm feeling pretty low and hoping it might just be too early to detect.  My beta is still 7 days away. I had what I thought was implantation bleeding 2 days ago but nurse said it could just be side effects of progesterone.  This is harder than I even thought.  I am surrounded by friends and family who are all having babies and its so hard to deal.

Ugh!  I don't know why... yep my estrace is a little blue pill...
I take it orally and vaginally 3x's a day... and I start the prometrium tomorrow.... vaginally 3x's a day.
They said they used to use progesterone, but they have had greater success with the prometrium... I'm kinda glad I don't have to do the shots though.... OUCH!!!!!
My RE does natural cycles too... I haven't had to do the Lupron since the first try.  ( which was successful, but I miscarried cause of uterien problems)

I am sooooo greatful my uterus thickened up too!  I prayed thank you's all the way home!  I am so optimistic about this time..... I have everyone on here praying for me and I just feel like it's going to work.  : )

I saw you joined the April transfers : )  I snuck in!  I never joined March's because I didn't know if it was going to happen or not.... I hope and pray we all get BFP's!!!!

SNOW SHOWERS OF BABY DUST TO BOTH OF US!!!!

I am very happy that your lining thickened up .. I hope, wish and pray that it works for you this time..

I go for lupron evaluation tomorrow and will start taking my del estrogen shots tomorrow..

How come your RE lets you get away without shots. . I think both estrace and prometrium are tablets ..  aren't they ? Both my estrogen and progesterone are intra muscular shots. .the 1.5 inch needles. . :( ..

Hi ladies, sorry I took so long to respond...I did use different donors. Most of the time, you may not get the same donor..you will have to pick another one in the 1:3 cycle.

Went to the RE yesterday, have to go back on Monday, uterus was only 5.9, he wants it at 7.  upped the estrace dosage, and hopefully i won't ovulate until after monday.  that will be day 16.  Keep your fingers crossed!  they did say my levels were low, so that's a good sign.  i wasn't near ovulation as of yesterday.

Thanks for remembering!!!  I am nervous!  I need all the thoughts I can get : )  again, the people on here are amazing!
I have heard really good things about shady grove!  They've been on oprah before : )   We have been really fortunate in our endever.  We knew our donor so didn't have to pay that fee, and in ACTUAL FET's we've only spent about $4,500.00 thus far.  (I'll be spending more today though if it's a go for next week) that doesn't include initial meds, but I don't think that bad at all.  The emotional strain is much worse then the money strain.
I am getting ready to leave... will catch up with you later : )
SSBD to both of us!

Today is 3/18. .. Let me know what your RE says after your visit..

I pay $29,000 for six fresh 1:3 cycles + all FETs if there are frozen embryos. God forbid.. if I don't have a baby at home by the 6th cycle.. I'll get the $29k back .. (I don't want the money though. . I want the baby). This is the only program we can afford at the moment.. . we go to Shady Grove Fertility center. And their success rate is about 60% per donor ivf cycle.. Their success rate per cycle is 75% when 2 blastocysts are transferred.

I took my first lupron shot today.. Lupron usually gives me bad headaches.. haven't got it so far though..

I sincerely hope and pray that both of us will be pregnant next month .. :)

Wow, My birthday is april 15th, you should shoot for that day : )   It has to be good luck!  Yeah, I am curious to see what the RE says tomorrow, but I am actually pretty optimistic.  I won't give up hope.  I can't.  I've came to far!
I dunno though, with my donor we got 23 eggs and 19 fertilized... so you might just get some extra's!  Ya never know : )   the 3:1 program sounds interesting.... you said it was a lot cheaper?  Do you all split the cost of the meds and the fee then?
Yes, God needs to be kind to both of us this month and  next and give us wonderful babies to love!

I totally agree..  The embryos belong to the same batch. .If it worked once.. it has to work the next time.. especially with a more receptive uterus without any build-up. Stay positive..

I am taking my first lupron shot tomorrow the 18th. And I stop bc pills on the 20th. My lupron evaluation is on the 24th. And I should expect my period on the same day and I should start taking the del estrogen. Estimated retrieval date is April 10th. And transfer would be 3 or 5 days later... I really wish that we would make it to a 5 day transfer. I don't have much hope about having embryos to freeze. . As we are doing the 1:3 program, 3 people will share my donor's eggs. .  So it will be a whole new long process if this cycle fails. .I'll have to select a new donor,.. wait for 2 more people to pick the same donor, synchronize cycles ..etc.. I hope that God will be gracious and make my first cycle work..

Thank you so much!  I hope so too! : )  The first time they transfered 3 (which was when I conceived), the last time 2.  I will go on Thurday 3/18 to see what the RE says.  We have 11 left, so we'll see what his game plan is.  I am optimistic, I mean it happened the first time, why wouldn't it happen again right?

That is So sad about your sister!  Yep, that's the way it works though.... so many people take their fertility for granted, especially with everything she knows your going through.  It just doesn't seem fair.  That's why I get so mad when people say "if God means for you to get pregnant you will" when the people who are are just aborting them.  You know?

You only have  few weeks left!!!  Do you have your dates yet?

I truly wish that your embryos will do great after thaw this cycle.. and that you will get your much deserved BFP this time .. and that you will carry the baby to term without issues!!

How many embryos do you plan to transfer ? When would the thaw be ? Keep me updated.

( My sister just learnt that she is pregnant with her third child .. She says that she is going to terminate the pregnancy. . that this is an unexpected & unwanted child ! .. I feel so hurt. . it happens to people so easliy and unexpectedly. .. )

This is what I found:

If an embryo is frozen immediately after it has been fertilized (pronuclear stage), the survival of the embryo after thawing appears to be high. However, since the embryo was not cultured in the laboratory first, its potential viability is unknown. Therefore, after the embryo is thawed, it must then be cultured in the laboratory in the same way it would have been if it had not been frozen. It is impossible to predict how many of the thawed embryos will reach the stage of development desired by the physician for transfer. Therefore, a higher number of embryos must be thawed. If a large number of embryos does reach that stage of development, then there is a dilemma. Either a larger number of embryos must be transferred (which increases the risk of multiple pregnancy) or the extra embryos must be discarded or refrozen.

On our first FET, they were grade 1, 4 cell (which I concieved, but miscarried do to uterus problems) and the second batch were grade 3 and only 2 cells.  They let them thaw for 24 hrs and transfer them.  The lady in the lab said they have let them go for 72hrs but that usually 24 hrs is rule of thumb.

We have 11 left, and I am PRAYING with everthing in me that the next batch that thaw are amazing and we conceive again!!!!

I found out that my embryo's were frozen at the pronclear stage.  I reseached it a little, it shows the have a better thaw survival rate, but you don't know how viable they are until after thaw.  Maddening huh?

Thank You So much for your input and help!!!!
It's a lonnnnggg story, but we actually had our embyo's frozen at the beginning of May '09.  I honestly cannot remember now what they told me at that time.  It was such an emotional time, I'm sure they told me....but I think I was in such an emotional state from not being able to do a live transfer, that I just forgot.  I guess I could call them and ask if they were frozen after blastocysts or before??  But, I am going to say they were frozen earlier because they always transfer at 24hrs. Man, do I feel uneducated about this!

Yep, I started my estrogen on Sunday.  2mg 3x's a day.  my u/s is on the 18th (same day you start your meds).

I am leaning towards moving forward and doing it in 2wks.

Thanks again for your help!  I love the ladies on here!  : )

I have not done a FET before. But I did some research for you and this is what I found.

"Blastocysts and embryos frozen at the cleaved stage can be transferred shortly after thawing (0-6 hours), but embryos frozen earlier on are frequently incubated for a day and transferred when they reach the cleaved or blastocyst stage.  "

Do you know at what stage your embryos were frozen ? Were they blastocysts ? or were they frozen earlier ?

Have you started to take estrogen ? March 23 is 2 weeks from now ..

I started my AF on Saturday.  I can do a March 23rd FET.  Am still going back and forth, but think we're gonna go for it : )   My RE has always just done a 24hr after thaw transfer.  I think I am going to ask him if we can wait a little bit longer?  I just don't know how that works?  Do you?

Has your AF started ? I have my dates. I am starting on March 18th, with Lupron.and then I'll have my estrogen shots. April 10th is tentative Egg Retrieval. And I hope I get two blastocysts. I have never made it to blastocyst transfer before. I have done 2 IVF cycles with my own eggs .. Both were 3 day transfers .. and ofcourse both failed.
