Femara????

So I am getting ready to start Femara on my next cycle...Clomid not working. Anyway I was wondering who is on or has been on it and when and how much did you have to take? I have done alot of research on it but I am just wondering why women are on such different doses and cd to take them? Is it just up to the individual DR.? Has anyone had success with Femara?? I need a little light at the end of this long tunnel....

I have heard that if you take it days 3-7 of your cycle it works better but there is more of a chance of having multiple babies so they usually just have woman that have a really hard time getting pregnant take it days 3-7. Taking it days 5-9 helps you get pregnant as well but has a less chance of multiples. And the dosage just depends on how much help you need to get pregnant. I will be starting Femara my next cycle.

I also have done femara.. two cycles on 2.5mg days 3-7, which worked well, but then due to all my problems, we started injectables with it and uppped the dose to 5mg days 3-7 , got preg, but unfortuantely miscarried.. now back on femara 5mg and follistim!   I also dont' have any side effects from it and it produces good CM which clomid can dry up for some people! good luck! :)

I also took Femara 5 mg/day on days 3-7.  I have read that doctors usually start you on 2.5 or 5 mg and then increase it by increments of 2.5 if the lower dosage doesn't work.  I have taken both Clomid and Femara and have to say that I liked the Femara much better.  Not as many side effects (except headaches) and I just overall felt better.  It definitely helped me produce a nice follie and definitely O every time.  If you are not responding to the Clomid, then Femara could very well be the solution for you!  If you are interested, here is a link to info on Femara that I found when I first started on it and was doing some internet research (it was published by some Ontario fertility clinic, I'm not associated with them at all, I just found it to have a lot of really good information).  All the best to you!

I am currently 3dpo and used femara for the first time this cycle.  I did 5mg/day (two 2.5mg caps) on days 3-7.  I too have wondered why there seem to be so many different days and doses, but haven't been able to find much about it.  I certainly would like to know if another method - like taking the whole 5 day dose on one day - works better than others, but haven't had a chance to ask my doc yet.  I've heard good things about femara and am keeping my fingers crossed this cycle, but am not too optimistic....

I did 2.5mg on cd2 and cd3. Then 5mg on cd4, 7.5mg on cd5 and cd6.  I have seen many ladies on very different doses. Some even take the entire 5 day dose on one day. I guess it is all up to the dr that rx's.

I did not get pg on femara. But, know a few that have had great success that did not on clomid.  Good luck!
