Fertility help

I have had success with clomid in the past, but due to an abusive marriage (which I am thankfully out of) I miscarried every time. I am now on another round of clomid with my current partner, but am confused as to when I am actually supposed to start. If clomid makes you ovulate, wouldn't your cycle be 28 days, or something close. Since getting off the nuvaring in May, I have had very irregular periods. Most of them were 37 day cycles, but the past two months have been longer and longer. This past month, before starting clomid my cycle was 49. I also have PCOS. I am just trying to figure out when to take a pregnancy test.  I don't wan to test too soon, as I have enough disappointments with all of this.

Hi

Do you mind me asking, how do you know if your eggs are of good quality?

I cant conceive. My husbands sperm is normal and my tubes have been checked, everything normal, IVF is what there are advising me, but it's so expensive, £4000 (in London, UK). I am a bit lost to if there's other alternatives...

Hi there,
Before starting clomid it is advisable to make sure that your eggs are of good quality, your husband’s sperm count is normal and your fallopian tubes are patent. It is taken on cycle days 5-9 but you can start taking clomiphene as early as cycle day 2. Ovulation usually occurs about 5-9 days later. It is started at 50 mg a day for 5 days. If you do not ovulate on Clomid, then your doctor often increases the dosage in the next cycle. The earliest that a sensitive blood test can pick up any HCG is 5-7 days after ovulation. If you are not on HCG booster the quantitative serum beta test can be reliable about 10-12 days after ovulation. Do consult your doctor before starting Clomid.
Best wishes and regards!
