Fertility question

I was just wondering, how soon can you become sterile after getting chlamydia or gonorrhea? I think the people at my local public health clinic deceived me. I asked to be tested for all the STDs and I thought I was, until I read that pap smears do not test for STDs. I did not receive any urine tests. So I may have been walking around with chlamydia and/or gonorrhea for 2 years and 3-4 months. Having children someday is the single most important thing in my life. Can anyone help me out?

Did you have these tests done at some point after the pap smear? Or are you not sure if you have these STDs? If you're not sure, the first thing you'd want to do is go and get tested. Then, IF it turns out that you have either chlamydia or gonorrhea, talk to your doctor to get treated and have him or her check your pelvis for any abnormalities. Hopefully everything is fine!

you DO have to ask for an STD test they do NOT do it with a regular pap! i was also worried about the same thing with being sterile but i have read up and chkd on it and its only if you get Chlamydia for so long or so bad that you develop PID (pelvic inflammatory disease) and trust me if you that you would know its very painful and you would be in the ER very quick!! i think you are fine on that part but as for STD testing yes you need ot ask to dr to preform it to make sure!!
