First IUI for me.... what to expect???

Hi all,

After months of trying, I am scheduled to do the IUI this coming Saturday.  I am looking forward to it as I hope it will bring better chances of having a baby.  But I am nervous too as don't know what to expect.  Do we need to rest after IUI?  Or we can just go ahead with our normal daily activities like shopping, exercising and so on?  Anybody can give me tips to enhance the chances of getting pregnant with IUI?

Thanks in advance!

Just have to ask...how do you know for sure it's on Saturday of this week??? Usually you'll be getting u/s tested a bunch and when your follicles are ready you'll get the HCG trigger shot then come back 36 hours later.  So most of the time you really dont know WHEN you'll have your IUI until a couple of days beforehand.
IUI is cake....you wont feel anything...you'll get his washed sperm inserted into you and you'll lay there for about 15 minutes afterwards.  My doc said to have sex that night...and the next night too.
Good luck!

I agree with shayla1 - how could they know so early - it is usually the day by day process - depending on your mature your follicles are. With IUI, you can go ahead and continue with your daily taks, just to avoid hot tubes on the day of your IUI.

It doesn't feel much different than going in for your annual pap. I carry on about my normal day, but I do try not to do anything too physically straining for the next couple of weeks.  Especially the day of iui, and around the time of implantation.  The dr did not instruct this, but it is my own little safety measure and a good excuse to get out of yard work :) Good luck to you and take care of yourself.
