Follistim injectables

Hi i am day 7 on my first cycle of injectables, u/s this morning showed no follicle bigger than 7.8.  I am taking 50 units per day. they want me to come back monday for re-check. has anyone had similiar numbers, and had mature follicles. i know its early in the cycle, but since they seemed to be disappointed, made me think they were hoping for larger numbers too. any info would be helpful

50 units seems really low.  They told me they were starting me on a really low dose, and that was 75.  I've only done them once, so I'm no expert - plus everyone responds differently.  They had me at my low dose cuz I have PCOS, and they didn't want to stimulate too many of those little cysts into follicles.  After 6 days at 75/day mine had slowed down in growth, (I still had four between 10-14mm) and they doubled my dose to 150 and in two days I was ready!  Good luck.

I also agree that 50 is really low.  This is my second cycle on injectables and both times, I did not respond to them in the beginning, therefore had to increase the dosage.  I started at 100, then went up to 200 after four days of injectables.  After 3 days on 200, my follicles were growing at a faster pace so they then lowered the dosage back to 100.  I went in every 3-4 days for an ultrasound so they could make sure the dosage was correct.  When they were around 14 or so, I saw the doctor every day so that hyperstimulation didn't become a problem.  Just a little tidbit, my doctor said they grow one mm every day when they are under 10mm and then grow 2mm every day after that and that's exactly what happened to me!  Don't get discouraged...although I know it's hard to!  I went through the same thing!  Hopefully those follicles were grow!  I hope this helps!  Best of luck to you!

I was on 75 unit and after 3 days us showed 1 13mm and 3 under 10mm. 50 unit does sound low. they canceled my IUI due to a big cyst from previous cycle. still waiting for it to go away. good luck.

thanks so much for all the info. i asked about increasing the dose, and they just said wait until monday and have another ultrasound. i also have pcos and they worry about hyperstimulation. hopefully monday there will be some progress, but regardless i will ask to increase, to hopefully save this cycle. thanks ladies, best wishes to all.
