Got my beta - I'M PREGNANT - but numbers are low?? Anyone??

Good Morning,

I wish that I was typing with more enthusiasm, but the numbers came in much lower than what I had expected, so I don't know how to feel!  I know that the beta doubling is more important than the actual number (which is going to make for a VERY long day today), but I am concerned about my progesterone, too...

Peak+7 (same as CD21 b/w) - Progesterone - 22.6, Estradiol - 314, TSH - 2.57 (I knew something was up, because last check, my TSH was .8...so I called and made the doctor increase my Armour thyroid to help keep it down)

Peak+11 (about 18DPO - yesterday) - Progesterone - 20.5 and Beta - 33

Shouldn't my progesterone be going up?  Does this mean that this isn't a viable pregnancy?

When (or if) the doctor calls today, I am going to insist that the Estradiol and TSH are checked again (if the TSH is up to something crazy like 4.0, we'll at least know what the problem is to fix it for the next time) and I know that they are going to resist, but dangit, it's my body, my health and my baby!!

I know that there is nothing that can be done to 'save' a pregnancy, but if you have a moment and can say an extra prayer for me, I would be very grateful!

Progesterone level for early pregnancy is normally between anywhere between 9-47 in the first trimester.  I think yours looks pretty good.  I know it must be scary, but give yourself a break from worrying about anything.  Because by this point, you have accomplished the main task, PREGNANCY!!  And I am so happy for you.  I just know everything will turn out okay...  May God continue to bless you!!!

Thank you all! I am so relieved and have been, really, since reading your replies!  I couldn't wait to get on this morning because I knew that I could count on all of you to make me feel better!

I am going to church now to thank God for all of this, already - no matter how it turns out, I found out that I can get pregnant on my own and that is a blessing!!

Thanks again!

your prog level can vary from hour to hour during the day.  as long as it is above the number that the doctor says it should be, then you are fine.  with my first beta, my hcg was only 39 i think or maybe 45, but it was low and all that meant was i was very early pregnant.  so try to hang in there, everything should be ok.

Congrats!  My beta was 52 and progesterone 27 (on supplements) when I got my BFP!  My hcg doubled nicely then around 9 weeks my progesterone dropped to around 15--I was very worried, but my doctor said everything was just fine as long as it was above 10.  I am now into my 17th week.  Best wishes to you!

CONGRATS!!!! thats wonderful news! : )     as i'm sure you've heard before, every beta has to start somewhere right?    My dr always wants the progesterone to simply stay 20 or above while pregnant, but many doctors are fine with 10 or above! I"M sending you tons and tons of prayers, luck and super super duper sticky baby dust! : )

I wish I could give you some great advice, and I understand your worry given all you have been through, but it sounds like your doctor is happy with those numbers, so try to relax and we will all pray for great results on your repeat test.  I have seen other women here with similar numbers who turn out just fine and I'm sure you will be one of them!  Positive thoughts!!!!!  :)   Take care and enjoy.

I keep reading as for the BETA the actual number does not count, just that they double. As for your progesterone, if the DR isn't concerned, then it must be normal.

Thank you for the replies and the kind words...

The office called and they are not concerned about anything.  They are not even going to re-check the progesterone levels and if the beta doubles, I don't think that they are going to re-check them, either.  So, I am praying for a nice doubled number and then I am going to enjoy a normal, 'not-monitored-every-day' pregnancy!

Thanks, again!

You can use prgesterone suppositories if your doc will give them to you. The progesterone looks good to me. But I understand your wanting it to go higher. Just see what the b/w shows and go from there. Good luck sweetie and I will be praying for you.
