HCG SHOT

Hi Ladies,

I had an ultrasound and HCG trigger shot done yesterday on CD13. The doc said I had 3 mature follicles. Can anyone tell me if this trigger shot has helped them conceive? I am just wondering how this HCG will play a role in helping me conceive. Any thoughts or personal experiences are welcomed = )!

Thanks girlie! Your amazing! Well AF showed her ugly face as expected yesterday. So we are going to try for IUI in July since we have to have my boyfriends blood work done ahead of time. I am going to read your journal. You can send me the site if you can. I know that even if I ever do become pregnant, I will be feeling all of the emotions just like you! You don't need to be sorry to be a downer.  I actually wrote in my blog about our experiance.. well not all of it but a good part of it.. if you want.  Message me and I will send you the site.  But only if you are wanting to.  This time is emotional enough for you.  Even getting past it and being pregnant I have my ups and downs and scary moments.. so hold on and lean on those you can..  BIG HUGS

Ohhh I see. I am hoping its strong enough for me. I hate to be a downer but its rough. I have so many mixed emotions. Sigh. I thank you again for being so hopeful for me :) I'm looking fwd to a success story as well.

Thanks so much :).  The clomid helped me ovulate 2 of the 3 times.  But for some reason it was not strong enough or something..  But I do know the clomid has worked for some so here is hoping for you.  Looking forward to a success story..

First off, CONGRATS on being 21 weeks pregnant!! YAY!!! That is awesome!!! So happy for you!!

Ya know I have been hearing that a lot about the clomid. I mean it seems to be helping me ovulate though, so that should be a good sign right? I am wondering if something else isn't going right with my body. I figure if this month isn't successful then we are gonna try for IUI in July and if that doesn't work then something must not be working. Thank you for the advice on the pharmacy ;) I will def message you! Thank you again for all of the support and hugs! Means the world to me!!!

I did not have success with the clomid.  Even with the IUI with the Clomid.  for me it took the gonal F and the IUI.  That is when the HCG shot worked.  I am now 21 weeks pregnant with our first :)  Our ins covered the IUI though.  It was the shot and the meds that cost a bit. Well the HCG shot was about $90 each time.  I had to pay $20 each visit.  and the Gonal F was the most expensive.  that was about 1300.  Since the ins did not cover it the pharmacy had a cash paid deal.  If you have to go that route message me and I will give you the number to the pharmacy.  The other pharmacy I called wanted almost $2000 for the shots.

Wow that's pretty cheap! I pray you don't have to go through the IUI but if you do, thankfully it seems to be affordable enough for ya ;-) I pray you have that girl =) ...

Thanks, yes I love my boys just hoping and praying my next which will be my last is a girl. As for me iui is only costing me 350, which I assume us a pretty good price but I hope I don't need it.....

That's amazing! I am sure you are a proud Mommy =) ... Well my boyfriend doesn't have any insurance so the blood tests along are going to cost $550. Then if we decide to do the IUI with the 2 ultrasounds, clomid and trigger shot, its going to be about $700-$750. My health insurance covers half of everything... My doc sprung it on me at the last minute as well but again we were unprepared with the blood work, which really *****. But I felt it was better to be safe than sorry with the monitoring... I pretty much keep busy well, just started up with water aerobics again last week, so that has helped a lot. I think keeping busy is a good idea ;-) ... I plan on testing come June 6th. The doctors told me to take a home pregnancy test and if it comes back positive then to call them and set an appointment. Until then, I am not going to test because of the trigger shot. I believe it stays in our system for at least 7 days... I am sending you tons n tons of baby dust as well and keeping you deep in my prayers! I hope its a girl for you this time lol GOOD LUCK friend xoxo

Thank you so much, yes I have four boys that was all conceived naturally no meds no nothing literally...lol if I can ask how much is your iui costing you? My doctor wanted to do the iui this cycle but sprung it on me three days prior to so I went home and thought about it and decided to complete this cycle with just timed bd and if then I  had no success I would consider iui next cycle. I'm not trying to look much into anything or focus on the tww but keeping myself busy with other stuff which isn't hard at all since I'm always busy doing something and when I do have down time I spend it at the gym or sleeping!!! When donyou plan on testing if at all? Also I read different things about how long it takes for the trigger to get out if your system... I think I'm not going to test I might wait until I go back to my doctor for the blood test.. I'm sending you tons of baby dust, and praying that this is your month!!! Good Luck & FX

OMG I just read this! How exciting!! That makes me feel so much better!! *HUGS* Wow, we are so close in our cycle and trigger shots, literally only a couple of hours off lol. We wanted to do the IUI this month but my bf didn't have his blood work done in time. So you n I are on the same wave length and I think its awesome. You already have children correct? Did you have to use clomid before or the IUI to conceive before?

If this cycle isn't successful we are going to skip June and try IUI in July. It's just so expensive but we aren't going to give up. I feel like we didn't come this far for nothing ya know? Omg you have to keep us all updated on here, I know I am. I hate the 2ww period lol. I know Imma cry if af shows up.

I also just triggered Thursday around midnight, I had like 15 follicles also three that was mature at 18-22mm. I've been wondering alot about wether I would conceive also, my doctor wanted me to trigger Thursday night and do iui Saturday morning since this was my first cycle on clomid(I ovulate on my own by my doctor wanted me to ovulate better) I decided just to have timed intercourse and if this cycle isn't successful I would do iui for my next cycle.

Oooh man I am so excited now :D! You have no idea how much hope that brings me. Thank you! It let's me know that things are actually working according to plan. The only thing I lack is the IUI n that is because we couldn't have my boyfriends blood work done in time. I'm so hoping n praying his swimmers make it up there! Congrats on your pregnancy! Yes - the trigger just lets you time intercourse better because you know within 48 hours you'll be ovulating.  I had 3 very mature follicles (25, 22 and 21) on clomid, trigger and IUI this round.  I'll be 13 weeks on Monday!  Good luck.

Thank you so much for giving me that information, it makes me feel better. I guess I always wonder if the things the doctors are suggesting are going to work for me. I am sure that I am not the only one who feels this way. They say that I am not ovulating and that is what has prevented pregnancy but I just wonder why it is taking so long if the meds are working. I will definitely keep in mind not to test until I have a missed period.

Well, HCG gives you the ovulation window between 24-48 hours.  So, at least you know when you ovulated and if they said 3 follicles were ready to go, that is good news.  Keep in mind, the HCG trigger shot stays in your system for at least a week, so make sure not to start testing until at least 10 days past ovulation, but really they say 14 days is best. Most of us can't hold out that long!

I am only having monitoring (2 ultrasounds)  this month with the HCG shot. I requested the monitoring since this is my 3rd cycle on clomid. If this cycle is unsuccessful, we are going to skip the next cycle and just go natural and then try for IUI in July. The doctor didn't give me measurements or anything, she just said I had 3 eggs that were ready to go and that the HCG shot would make ovulation happen in a timely manner.

I just feel nervous and I am wondering if taking the HCG shot will make a difference.

HCG releases your follicles that are over 15 mm in size.  Releasing 3 gives you a good chance one will take. Are you having an IUI?
