riri, the other shots are probably for meds other than trigger shot. Injectable follicle stimulating meds are very expensive if your insurance won't cover it. I don't think estrogen and progesterone are that expensive but over a course of a month it could add up and get $$.
Types of meds:
Hormone replacement meds like estrogen and progesterone
Follicle stimulating meds (clomid is taken orally but there are other more expensive injectable kinds)
HCG trigger to release the egg once there is a mature follicle
Best of luck to you..
I dont know about any other injectible fertility treatments other than the trigger shot. I am on clomid, estrogen, and progesterone and had my trigger this past Friday.
I'm really hoping that my temp goes up some tomorrow, just to ease my mind about not ovulating.
I had an u/s Friday before the shot and had 2 follicles--26mm and 23mm. So, I know they were in there...I just want at least one to release an egg already!
I just hope it's not possible to get the trigger and NOT ovulate at all.
Another bad thing--I think I'm getting a UTI from so much bding!!! I guess I'll have to start some antibiotics tomorrow. That wont affect anything, will it?
the thing is that i didn't get my period for 20 months, and that means that i am ovulating. i tried clomid 50mg once and it didn't work. my dr told me that my estrogene is low (13) so i need to get the shot to raiseand obulate. but he told me that it is very expenssive. i am thinking about it. you said that it just one single shot. from what dr said i have to go to his office everyday to monitor me. so i don't know why i have to go every day if this just a single shot.
The trigger shot is a single shot. Once the follicles are mature, you can get an hcg trigger shot to trigger your body to ovulate (release the egg(s)). This can be used by itself or in conjunction with follicle stimulating meds like clomid.
can i ask you please? do you have any idea about how many shots you have to get to get pregnant.or do you have any more information about the tigger shot.
This is my first month of injections and IUI also. The hcg shot is the "trigger shot" that forces you to ovulate. Some brand names are Pregnyl, Profasi, Novarel....
what is hcg shot? I am on follistim and ovidrel...is that considered a hcg? I am sorry if thats a stupid question..this is all new to me ..this is my first month on injections and IUI
two things:
From my experience and I've had two u/s to confirm this. Ovulation did not occur until at least 33 hours after shot. So if you had the shot on cd13, you will probably ovulate sometime on cd15. Twice I've had u/s about 32-33 hours after shot and the follicle was still there. The dr said you could tell it was very close to being released because it had a jagged edge. Both times I got bfp with IUI 36 hours after hcg trigger shot. When I've googled the subject, everything I read said ovualtion will occur 36-48 after shot.
Also, I always temped.. After my first IUI, the temps went straight up just like you would hope/think they would. Afte the second and third IUI, the temps went up much more gradually. I even called the dr because I was worried and his words to me were: With u/s to confirm mature follicle and HCG trigger shot, there is "no way" you did not ovulate.
Good luck to you!!
