Has anyone ever found out they were pregnant at 6 mo

I just found out I am pregnant at age 47.  My husband and I have 4 other sons in their 20s.  We were not planning pregnancy, it just happened.  After the initial shock, we are all thrilled.  The problem is that I found out when I was almost 6 months.  I was having a period until the 4th month, so I was totally unaware.  Then,  when I stopped menstruating, I thought I was going through menopause.  The problem is that I have been taking pain medication for a back injury every day.  I have taken muscle relaxers and pain medicine like candy, because I had no idea I was pregnant. I was also taking blood pressure med, Paxil for depression, and iron med.  The Dr. took me off the iron, muscle relaxers and Paxil, but said the kind of pain med I was taking is okay to take during pregnancy, so I have continued to take it, but have almost stopped.  I am worried about the effects of all this med I was taking before knowing I was pregnant.  Has anyone else experienced anything similar to my situation?  I am worried to death I have taken something that could harm my baby.  My Dr. has told me to stop worrying.

You are fine. I am sure the doctor would have advised you if he/she was concerned. A lot of the issues with most drugs come in the third trimester anyway so don't worry - just take good care of yourself.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!!! I am 45 and still trying naturally.  Any suggestions?  Should I consider accupuncture?

I understand your concern over the health of your fetus.  I got pregnant naturally at almost 42 and I also took medication (anti-anxiety) during the months I wasn't aware I was pregnant that I thought may have affected my baby.  In the end, there was no effect at all.  I have a very healthy little boy.  I did stop the medication once I became aware I was pregnant.  I also dyed my hair throughout my first trimester and that also has not had an effect on my baby.  I switched to vegetable dye once I discovered I was pregnant.

I do think your baby will be fine.  Please keep us posted.  What a wonderful gift!!!

Congrats on your BFP!!! I wouldn't worry especially if Dr advised all should be ok.  Just pray and all will work out for the best.
