So im wondering what he will do bc im ovulating but not getting preg..I have had blood work done normal, ultrasound stating i have psco.... I go in march and just wondering if anyone know what the fertility dr would do... My insurance will not cover any testing i will have to pay out of pocket...
The fertility doctor that you need to see is called a reproductive endocrinologist. At your first visit you will likely have blood taken and then just a brief consult with a dr where they will ask you basic questions. I find that the first appointment is usually a big dissapointment.. you want some 'magic' answer and there isn't any. They will test all your hormone levels in your blood and then check your FSH # (follicile stimulating #) this number should be on the lower side (say 5) but it may be as high as 15. The higher the # the fewer eggs you have left. Certain REs will not treat a patient with a high FSH #, so it is importnat for you to find out what that number is. If your blood comes back normal then its onto sperm testing for your husband and then a HSG test for you which will check to see if your tubes are open. All of this testing will take a few weeks. Next you will either be offered IUI or IVF.
IUI is a less expensive procedure with a very low sucess rate and I woulden't recommend it.
IVF is the 'cadillac' of procedures. It is more effective than any other procedure but is expensive. Roughly 15 to 20 K if insurance does not cover it. If that didn't work there are other options too that your RE will discuss with you.
My best advice is to find a great RE and start to plan on how you can pay for things out of pocket if you need to. This can be a very long road so I wish yo much luck. Try to keep your head
DEpending upon how your re words things your insurance co will cover part of it. U have to take the met inorder to have normal periods so her could say irregular periods. trust me they do all they can the make sure the insurance covers it.
The OB can only do so much. The fertility dr looks for more in your tests. And should have more of an ideal why you are not concieving. He probbaly will say you have unexplained infertility
if everything looks good and your not getting pregnant. He will probably try other stuff like IUI or more clomid. they will have to do some tests to see what your body is doing during the month. I was told my insurance would not cover me either but it did. I think its how they word things and what the problem is. Good luck and I think it will be worth it to see the RE
