I was a little bit. But it wasn't that bad. Just uncomfortable for a few mins, a little pain. Not alot. Just a little. Completely bearable. And it goes by really quick, too! So try not to worry! You'll get through it just fine! And hopefully you'll get the good news like me that both tubes are open!!! :) Good luck, sweetie!
many thanks well i am going in a two today so i guess i will know more then i am absoltuly bricking myself, were any of you guys scared? silly question i know
Maybe you'll be there for an hour total, but the procedure itself is just a few minutes.
the docs have not told me the procedure really all they have said is it will take an hour is this right/
xx
many thanks for all your comments im so scared...i dont know what to expect but you have helped i just hope eveything is ok cos i have the feeling that something is wrong with me
i got mine done in April this year and yeah, didn't feel much pain..just a little discomfort ..I was told by my RE to get it done on CD 9 and not have sex for 48 hours prior.
I didn't feel much pain at all. It felt some what like a pap, I had minor cramping for a couple days, but that's it!
I had the procedure done 3 months ago. I also had a lot of pain during this but have heard that many don't have any pain at all. It is great to watch and made me feel better to know there was nothing blocking my tubes. The balloon blowing up was the worst part of the procedure but luckily it only lasts a couple min. I wasn't told anything about waiting to have intercourse but that we should continue like normal as I had it on CD 10 and we were supposed to bd every other day starting with CD10. Good luck and hope you get great results!!!
Hi December21! I had my test done about 3 years ago and the same as above...not have sex and TTC before the test. They gave me an extra strenght advil and it still hurt, but more like a burning sensation for a few seconds and then it all goes away. One more thing that I will like you to be aware of is that the dye test will only show major blockage, not small ones. I'm saying this because unfortunately I'm one of the few people I know who had two ectopic pregnancies. One in 2006 and another one in 2008, and they told me that usually a woman who had one ectopic is prone to have another one, and that it will detect blockage but not really small ones. If you think about it, it kinda makes sense, you are testing using liquid but the fertilized egg is much bigger than that. I hope I'm not hurting your feelings but I hope someone would have told that in the past. Take care and hope it all works out!
I think they want you to not TTC for the month because of the damage that the dye can do to the egg or embryo. I had one about 12 years ago. Ditto to what Amanda said. It was uncomfortable and then mildly painful for a bit. But it was quick, and it's very valuable info to have so well worth it! I'm having a laparoscopy today so luckily they'll do the dye test while I'm under. :) Hope you get good news!
My radiologist said to not have unprotected sex from the first day of your period until after the test and an OK from your dr.
For me, the test was fairly painful. I didn't feel like dying or anything, it was just painful. They put a catheder through your cervix (uncomfortable) and blow up the balloon (that was the worst of the pain for me). Then they insert dye (couldn't feel that) and have you turn side to side and take xrays. It's over within a few minutes. Hope that helps!
