I went to the doctors on the 9th and she said that my Fsh level is usually at 10 or below at day 3 and all my other levels are good. They want to do another ivf cycle next month, so this will be my 6th one coming up, but this time instead of doing the transfer 3 days later, they will fertilize and freeze all of the embryos
and then the following month they will tranfer them. I will only take estrace and progesterone the month of the tranfer. They want to see if having no stims. in my body will help implantation. So, this will be a fet cycle, which I never had before because I didn't have any embryos
that I could freeze. Now, if this doesn't work they want to do laparscopy surgery. She told me that I should of been pregnant by now, which is very frustrating for my DH and I to hear. I am actually glad they are going to do the surgery just because I feel like there is a reason why my embryos
, so at least one should of attached. I keep on wondering what's wrong with me, so maybe doing this surgery will hopefully give me some answers. Now, if I get pregnant doing the fet cycle then that will be wonderful and it will also give me some answers. This really sucks, it was hard enough going through a 5th cycle and now I have to go through a 6th. At least they are changing things around and starting to come up with new ideas.
I am surprised you have not done a lap yet. My doc recommends the lap before moving on to more invasive treatments.
I hope the new protocol works for you.
I wish I did do the lap. first. That could of cleared up a few things for me. They just keep on saying that my HSG test came up clear, so there was no reason at that time to do the lap. Surgery. When I saw my doctor on the 9th, she said it was time to do it, but she wanted to try the fet cycle first.
Hi kah, Good luck to you for the FET!! I really admire your courage to have been through 5 ivf cycles. Your struggle gives me strength:)) I'm really hoping and praying that your next cycle will get you a BFP. I also hope your lap will give you answers. Keep us all posted.
My HSG showed no problem either. HSG cannot reveal endo or scar tissue that is preventing conception in my case. The two are not substitutes. My doc did tell me when I asked him about laporotomy that HSG showed no problem in my uterus.
Are you paying out of pocket for your IVFs? Or is it covered by insurance? If you pay out of pocket, I would ask for the lap first. That way, if there are issues, you can have that corrected before spending lots of $$ on the next IVF.
...but either way, I wish you best of luck!!! I hope your next IVF cycle brings you your well-deserved BFP!!!
Shayla1- I did have the assisted hatching done on all my embryos. How are you doing on this cycle? I really hoping you get that BFP this month.
Julie1615- Thankyou so much for your kind words. I just wanted to say that I get a lot of my strength from you guys and my DH. This forum has helped me out a lot.
Helen72- Did they find Endo and Scar. tissue in your uterus when they did the lap.?
Heather5- I am paying out of pocket and trust me I rather do the lap. first because of it, but the doctor insist that I do the FET cycle first. The reason that she gave me was that she feels, since I am a poor responder to the medication that this might be the reason why my embryos are not implanting in my uterus. So, that's why we are not doing a fresh transfer. All my embryos will be frozen until the following month, so the stims will be out of my body when I do the transfer.
Oh, I see... Would it be possible to ask you doctor for the lap while you're waiting for the FET? Or is that something that has to be done so and so long before you can try again?
My lap was a diagnostic surgery for endo. My insurance actually covered it since they cover diagnostic procedures but not treatments (so we have to pay out of pocket for ivf just like you). My doc found no endo but lots of scar tissue due to an old surgery that left a scar :(
Note that your poor reponse can be due to endo. I think I read a post by LvnEmbryos and she said that for some reason patients with endo are poor responders and it's not clear why. However, since you are already doing ivf you are going around many problems that laparoscopy can reveal. For example, my scar tissue covers both ovaries and prevents conception in my case but ivf will solve that problem. Lap can clear the endo but it will not change how you respond to ivf meds. So, a lap can figure out what's going on but I doubt it will make ivf more successful.
