I had my 3 day on September 15 it came back at 21. the Dr canceled the rest of my test and told me to stop takign the clomid. I can't explain how heart broken I've felt. I finally thought I'd not going down without a fight. It has hurt that the Dr gave up after one test. I've made and appointment with a specialist on the 6th of October, I pray this Dr will give me some hope.
Best of Luck!! hope u will give us a good news soon :)
Because my RE tested my FSH this month and it was 12.2, and my past inject IUI cycle, he was so convinced that this IVF cycle was going to bust. He said "Youll probably only get 4 eggs" and he tried to cancel my cycle TWICE! Well, I refused to go down w/o a fight, I ended up on stims for 13 days, but he retreived 11 mature eggs and 9 of them fertilized.
I have been doing acupuncture for the past 3 months.. have no idea if it helped, but something did.. b/c my body finally repsonded. Im now in TWW after ET on Sat.
Oh.. I also have been taking DHEA for the past 2 months.
Thank you very much for your kind words and encouragment.
Your FSH levels will go up and down. One month it could be back to 10 and the next 22. Once you have a high level; it doesn't matter if it drops. The RE will always go by the highest number. The FSH level is nothing to worry about. You want to go to acupuncture to increase blood flow to your ovaries to help them to produce quality eggs. Your ovaries are still producing eggs at the moment (like my RE explained; think of a car ... it's like you are stepping on the accelerator but you are not going any faster, but you're going. That's what FSH does. Your ovaries are not producing as much of the hormone it needs to create top notch eggs. "The factory is slowing down but it has not ceased." You do not need top notch eggs to get pregnant. Cells are rated as far as embryos go but not the genetic make up. This is why you hear stories of woman getting pregnant with low grade eggs. (Typically high FSH patients have lower grade eggs.) They still could have a good genetic make up and grow.
Stop stressing about the FSH. Time is a factor so get on it but stay focused. Another RE explained to me that once you transfer the embryo (regardless of it's quality) it has to take over on it's own. You are only a host and it doesn't need "you". It will grow on it's own. So, that's where I am at the moment. I hope my Beta of 15 triples and my body is a warm host to my embryo. 8-)
Good luck to you.
I have heard of people using accupuncture to reduce FSH. However, my understanding is that once you have a high FSH reading, it doesn't matter if you have a lower one another month. It could be a mistake or read incorrectly, so guessing that's why RE will give you Clomid if its lower next month.
As SDTeacher said, best thing is to not wait. Sounds like you do have a RE and are continuing bloodwork, so that's good. Keep your hopes up, all is not yet lost! I so hope everything works out for you.
Can anyone tell me wether Accupuncture or chinese medicine will help to reduce FSH?
I am very depressed but I do believe in God who can do whatever he wants to do.
I also suffer from high FSH levels. My last reading was 14 or 15 . It was 23 or something like that. It is true that you will not have the best quality eggs which in turn sometimes don't make it to blasts stages as fast as others with low FSH. I just completed my 3rd IVF and waiting for BETA on Sun. I don't think it's pos b/c I am experiencing spotting today.
My advice...don't wait (that was my big mistake) It doesn't matter if your FSH levels are up or down (even) b/c time is of the essence with the FSH factor. You could be down this month and twice as high as you were before the following. Just go for it.
It is true that some woman do get preg. with this factor but our chances are about 30-40% depending on your RE's protocal.
Accupuncture did help me (2X /week) for 2 months prior to ER. I actually had a nice blastocyst (but still didn't get me a BFP).
This last time with no accupuncture I produced ****, so I am a big believer!
Good luck!
Yeah, My RE gave me some medicine for Estradiol and I will do day 3 FSH again after my period and he said if its below 14 then he will give me Clomid.
My last day 3 FSH reading was considered borderline high (14) but I managed to conceive right after (m/c unfortunately). I think many women on this forum with high FSH have conceived.
Its mainly an indicator of ovarian reserve. It doesn't mean you have no eggs, just not as many and the quality of what remains may not be as high with someone with lower FSH. And like sasparilla said, it may be harder for you to get preg.
Don't give up yet, it certainly is not the end. See a RE as soon as you can, you may want a fuller workup. Usually they don't see women your age unless you've been trying for a year, but they may see you based on your bloodwork.
I have borderline FSH.. mine ranges from 7-12.5.. Just b/c your FSH is high doesn't mean you can't get preggers.. what it does mean is that you will probably have a harder time getting pregnant. Have you gone to an RE yet? they should be able to give you advice and options. You also might want to ask if the RE's in your area have any experience dealing with high FSH.. also.. get your day 2 or 3 Estradiol and antral follicle count checked.. that is another indicator. Good Luck!
