High fsh low amh

Hello everyone I am a 35 years and I have been trying to conceive for the past 2 years with no success. I have an amh level of 1.0 and fsh of 13. My infertility specialist says the only way I will be able to conceive is by ivf. Are there any suggestions in my condition. I have been on DHEA for the past two weeks. I would love to hear back from everyone. Please Help.

Have you tried any medications over the past 2 yrs? I am 34 and was diagnosed with borderline ovarian reserve - AMH 1.8 and antral follicle count 3-4 - and got pregnant with IUI using gonal-f.

I asked my RE if we should go straight to ivf before it is too late, but he suggested trying 6 cycles of injectable meds first.I got pregnant on my 4th cycle of gonal-f +iui (it was my 1st iui cycle, the 1st 3 were timed intercourse). I was also doing acupuncture and taking some supplements.

RE also said due to low antral foll count we would likely only get 5-6 eggs for ivf . The normal statistics say about 20% chance of pregnancy with IUI (can be higher if you get multiple follicles) and 50% with ivf. But, they like to get >10 eggs for ivf, and if you only have 5, that lowers the chances making the success rate of IUI and IVF more similar. Anyhow, my RE said he did not think I would be more likely to get pregnant using IVF over IUI. He is at a public hospital so makes the same salary regardless of how many iui's and ivf's he does. However, he did say if I did not get pg after 6 cycles of injectables, then he would suggest IVF.

If you have insurance that covers ivf, it might be worth going for it right away. But if not, you might want to seek a 2nd opinion to see if other cheaper options might be worth a try. Best of luck to you.

To me it seems like a money thing, honestly we would never have been able to afford ivf and donor eggs are more expensive than that!  It pays so to speak to do research yourself so you dont get taken....

I have a similar situation, my RE told me my amh is extremely low & I had a fsh of 12.5 & 15. The only thing is my RE doesn't even seem like he wants to consider medication & when asked about IVF I was pretty much told that I wouldn't be a "good" candidate. I have heard so many women on this site talk about using medications to help with ovulation & so forth. I don't know why the dr's in my area seem to go right to "the donor egg speech".

Well I can tell you my amh was .7 and my fsh was 12.4. I am currently 29w1d pg. I will be 37 next month. I did not use IVF at all.  We did medication and timed intercourse.  I would get another opinion.  I used an RE.  Good luck to you.
