How accurate is a 7 day post transfer HPT?

Hi.  I'm new to this forum but I am on my 4th Fresh IVF cycle....I really can't believe this has been a year since we started. I trasfered two embryos last Wed. (Jan. 12) and was told not to do a HPT before tomorrow and to come into the office on Mon. (the 24th) for blood, but of course I got anxious and just did a test.....There is a very faint second line (indicating positive).  Does anyone know if this is just too early?  Is it a possible false positive?  I was prepared to have a negative and say its because its too early, but this is even more confusing.  My doctor had said that a negative HPT might be wrong but she felt that a positive was a positive.  I have read some previous posts and other people have mentioned false positives.....really not sure I'm ready for another disappointment because this may be our last try. The trigger shot would be out of your system at this point. So sounds like congrats are in order for you!

Oh, I REALLY REALLY hope so.. Thanks.  I called the Dr.'s office (twice) :) to ask if I can do blood work today.  Do you think it will show up in blood work too then?

your blood test would be pos if your urine test is.
most women have the trigger out of their system in 7-10 days.
not sure what day your transfer was, but i got my first bfp 8 days after my 3 day transfer (11 dpo) and my daughter is now 19 days old :)

The trigger should be out of your body about 10days.  I believe this is the real positive unless you have other HCG shot after the transfer.  If you could not have the beta, you could test again tomorrow to see if the line get darker. I'd said congratulation.

A positive is a positive, no such thing as a false positive if there is color and it showed up within the time frame (usually 10 minutes).  The only other thing that would cause a false positive would be an hcg trigger shot, but I don't think you would have had that with IVF, they only give that to induce ovulation for IUI.  CONGRATULATIONS!!! You're preggo!!

Did you tirgger? Mine was out of my system at 11 days but have been told that it can last 12-14. I hope this is the real thing for you :) Good luck!

Hi All: Thanks so much for the info.  Yes, the blood test was today and came back positive.  We are beyond excited.  I did the blood today and my HCG was 151. I repeat on Mon. and then Wed.  I tried to find out if they could tell if it was twins already but they said it depends on how much I go up on Mon. and Wed.  We implanted 2 so theres a chance...Does anyone know if 150 is really high for HCG on day 9 post transfer? My estradiol is 1304?  Thanks.  Good luck to everyone.

numbers don't mean much as far s 1 vs 2 babies.  they won't be able to tell that until your first ultrasound around 6 weeks.
