How can I have gotten pregnant with blocked fallopian tubes?

I have a question about fallopian tube blockages. I was able to get pregnant very quickly about 6 months ago but then miscarred at 10.5 weeks. My partner and I decided due to our ages that we would be proactive about determining if there was an underlying cause rather than waiting to see if the next one "took". All tests were good, FSH 5.8, lots of nice little follicles developing eggs, good semen, EXCEPT for the one I was least worried about-- the HSG. It showed that my tubes were block. The doctor said not to worry since I'd gotten pregnant so fast, that maybe one or both were not as blocked as the HSG showed. But I'm confused, how is it possible that I got pregnant (non-ectopically) if the HSG showed that my tubes would not even let the dye keep going ??

The Spasm thing with tubes happened to me.  I was told I had one tube blocked in Sept 2009.  I had another HSG in Jan 2010 & now am told tubes are OPEN.  I would think yours probably are too.

Best wishes to you!!

Hmmmm, that's weird. Could one or both of your tubes have had a spasm during the procedure? I think I've heard of that happen before. If you got pregnant just 6 months ago, I would ask the doctor if you could have another HSG to see if there's a difference next time. Best of luck!
