Lol, I have been wondering the same thing. I'm picturing a cup of swimmers as "pets" like sea monkeys.
As I understand it, they should live for a couple hours in a cup, especially if the room is warmer than room temperature -
I know when they do sperm checks at the OB, if you bring the sample from home within the hour they still expect to see healthy viable sperm.
I'm so curious why the question was asked. ;D
Hello-
Saw your post and went and searched--- found this on wiki answers:
**Sperm can not live in water. This is merely a myth.
Sperm will die when it comes into contact with air.
Sperm can live no longer than a few seconds in water.
Sperm lives for up to 5 days in a Womans body
You might could search online for how to keep sperm alive ?? I hope this helps.

Do you think the cup they give you at dr for s/a has something in it that makes them live longer? When dh did his, we had an hr to get the cup to dr. His s/a was all normal, so they had to be alive.
I'm not sure, but I know they can make it at least an hr. As for the water, I would imagine the chlorine in our tap water would probably kill them.
