How long to prepare uterus for Embryo transfer

Question

How long did it take for your uterus to become ready for transfer?  From the day you started with the meds (estradiol), until the day they did the transfer?  Did it simulate the normal cycle of a woman (implanting the embryo on day ~14, like in a natural menstrual cycle), or did it take a shorter time for your uterus to become the appropriate thickness, due to the medication taken? 

I plan on doing a FET, so I want to get an idea of how long it will take until they do the transfer.  Give or a take a day.

you are cracking me up! ok, you lie on the floor.... put your butt against the wall.... put your feet in the air.... your butt doesn't move during the 30 minutes. it is just up against the wall while your leggs are in the air. You will look like an L.

ha ha ha ha!!   Actually, the rubbing of your stomach two inches below you belly button in a clockwise motion for 5 minute a day is one thing I do, and the scooting my butt up against the wall with my legs in the air for 30 minutes is another thing I do!  Ha ha!  But your visual make me LMAO too!!!

Well.... maybe you could coordinate things between your obgyn where you live now and your RE where you used to live?  Have your obgyn do your monitoring, and have them measure the thickness now that you've started the estrace? then go again in about 5 days later to see where you are?  To see if they need to increase your meds or not? I do know that they have to have 24hrs to thaw the embies....but if everything looks good on a certain day, you could buy the plane ticket for 5 day later. You would start your progestone 2-3 days before. I'm sure they could call each other and work things out!

 It would mean buying a last minute plane ticket... but it would save you time traveling back and forth.

...so i just want to make sure that I fly there on a good day, and not too late.  That's why  I asked if it was possible for the uterus to get too thick.

I also don't want to fly too early, and just sit there for an extra 2 weeks, if it's not necessary.  Because I'm basically taking time off of school/work to go there, I just don't want to waste any extra days.

When my school is over (I'm in grad school), I plan on going in the summer for awhile....if this FET doesn't work.

I have a really complicated story.  I'm not in the middle of a cycle, because I don't get my cycles anymore.  I went through chemotherapy awhile ago, and it basically put me into early menopause at 27!  I take estrogen everyday, regardless, but now that I want to do IVF, my doc said to start to prepare myself by taking 6mg.

Before I did chemo, we froze our embryos (thank god we did that).  So they just took out the eggs, fertilized them, and kept them frozen for when the time came that I'll need them.

What makes it even more complicated, and why I'm asking now, is that we moved to a different city, and so now i have to try and coordinate it, so i can fly to my old RE and do the transfer over there.  It's too risky to fly the embryos here, and more expensive too.  What if something happened to them, that would be awful.

So basically I'm starting to take 6mg from tomorrow, and I'm wondering what a good day to fly there would be.  In 1 week, 2 weeks?  They won't start giving me the progesterone until I'm over there, which is fine.  I know that it usually is around 3-4 days after progesterone that they do the ET.

Yes, it can get too thick also....but I've never had that problem! ha!  I've been sruggeling for over a year... I couldn't do my IVF because my uterus was not thick enough... all embies were frozen....1 m/c from first FET and a Hysteroscopy to follow.... my second FET was BFN, uterus was around 7.3mm at that transfer.  

I think over 14mm or 15mm is getting a little thick???... maybe someone else will have info on that.

Ok, so you are doing a natural cycle too. do you know what your lining is now?  Where are you in your cycle?  I'm assuming you did a IVF last time.  do you know what your 
uterus was for that?

thanks for the reply.  Yes, this is my first FET.

Do you know if the endometrial lining can get too thick?  I mean, what if I go in...and it's like way way too thick, like 12mm or something.  Is that possible too?  would they cancel the cycle?  

I'm on just estradiol at the moment.  6mg

I just went through asking this question last week : )  Because I was REALLY confused.

 Here is my senario...  I took estrace 3x's a day by mouth  from day 1 of cycle 3/6/10.  I went to the Re on 3/18 for my "check" before a 3/23 FET.  My uterus was only 5.9mm
 Needless to say, he postponed the transfer and upped my estrace to estrace 3x's a day... 1 by mouth 1 vaginally (so he doubled the dose)  ((I also drank Raspberry Leaf Tea, scooted my behind against the wall with my legs up in the air for 30 minutes a day and rubbed 2 inches below my belly button for 5 minutes a day, anything to get it thicker! ha!))
I went back on Monday 3/22 (4 days ltr) and it was at 8.5mm. (( Yippee))
He started me on prometrium 3x's a day vaginally starting today Wednesday 3/24, and he scheduled my FET for Friday 3/26 so day 21 of my cycle.  

The ladies on here so kindly informed me that the meds can prolong your cycle so they can transfer later in the cycle.

It was also a natural cycle (no loupron) if your on loupron, they can postpone your FET as long as needed as your overies are shut down.

Is this your First FET???
