Hi, I realize that this post is a few years late, but just in case anyone out there is reading, you might find this useful.

I am an American citizen married and living in Lebanon. My husband and I are on our 4th IVF and the 2 week wait.

Our first IVF resulted in no pregnancy.
2nd IVF - pregnant with girl, but electively decided to abort due to the baby having a Trisomme problem.
3rd IVF - pregnant with boy and girl twins...
4th IVF - now waiting

You should know, the total cost in Lebanon, is $2000 ($1500 for actual IVF, and about $500 for medications) I know some of you may think this is a 3rd world country, but most doctors are either educated in the states or somewhere in Europe. So the medical care is excellent.

It's sad to see the cost most of you incur just to have a baby, when other places do it at a much more reasonable price. I know, most would pay a million dollars to have a baby, but it's heartbreaking to know that insurance companies are taken a advantage of this.

HMO's have to cover infertility including IVF 100%. I was told all HMO's have to do this. I have Humana HMO and so far everything has been covered. I only had to pay a co-pay for the meds which came to $246.00. And when I see the RE I have a $30.00 co-pay.

I am wanting to try IVF. I dont know a lot about it right now, But I have had my tubes tied for over a year, and it was the worst decision Ive ever made. I was wondering if anyone has heard of infertility insurance covering the cost (all or partial) of the IVF (with meds and dr. visits) in Oklahoma...? Again, I dont know a lot about all of this yet, but i am looking into it more, the more i think about it.
If you could, please e-mail ur replies to me at ***@****

Thank u!

we are in our first round of IVF and our dr. office has a plan called the shared risk plan you pay a one lump sum of 25,000 (plus meds) and if you do not deliver a baby in the next two years you will get your money back! we decided to do that so that it would not be as stressful........but it worked the first time! o-well now we both win right?

We were told it would cost us $9,500 for one round of IVF but please understand that was JUST for the IVF!!  We had to pay an additional $4,000 for the drugs and shots.. then if you want to have the embryos tested for genetic problems, which I would recommend if you are over 40, that is another $500.... all in all, since our insurance did NOT pay, it cost us close to $20,000 but if a baby results, so well worth the money!!!!

It also depends on the type of insurance you have. for example my insurance will not cover IUI or IVF but it does cover all the dr visits, u/s and meds. I 'think' this will bring down the cost several thousand dollars. I pay $300 for the IUIs. I haven't done an IVF, yet but i'm expecting it to be $8,000 - $10,000. You may consider trying the iui before going straight to ivf.

best of luck!

well we are tyring to get an insurance too ,and i want to make sure i know the IVF cost ,and right now a lots of checked up ,and i took fertility pills which is not worked out on me ,so next step is injectibles thing ,and doctor mention to me a laparoscopy which is up coming , I need to wait my cycle first ,and on the day 3 ill  have my first injection good for 5 days ...and day 8 for appointment ,this checking of my follies ..she said the injectibles are stronger than the clomid i took ,and this injectibles pressure on my ovary and work on getting increase of follies .
We have plan on ,IVF or IUI and we dont know yet which is the first thing we do try ..either of the two ..we been paying from pocket now and we dont use the insurance yet but we need to show the receipt to the insurance company and then we get our money back ..
SO hows your life going on now ?

I am just starting my 3rd IVF. Before we had insurance that covered it, but now we have to pay out of pocket. Now we are going through Kaiser IVF center.  It will cost us about  $13.600 Including all the meds, ICSI and assisted hatching.

Good luck. Keep me posted
