How much does IVF usually cost? I have tried IUI.

My husband and I have tried IUI two times and no luck so far. We want to try IVF but we are worried about the costs. If anyone out there does not mind please tell me how much it cost you with insurance coverage and without insurance.

My 2 IVF's were different prices.  My clinic gives you a bit of a discount after your first try.
IVF#1: $8,000 (includes appt's, retreival, transfer, ultrasounds, etc...)
$425 Anesthesia
$8700 Meds (OUCH! , but I'm a very sloow responder and have to take the max. amount of drugs for 13 days)
Grande Total IVF#1: $17,125

But, my second cycle was mush less expensive.. Discount of $1500 off my actual IVF And I had a couple of VERY nice women send me some of their leftover meds, which saved me a bunch!!!

My sister had IVF with ICSI and it was $13,000.  Some IVF centers have programs where you pay a little more but they will do 3 trys or so- cost sharing.....my insurance does not pay either- I think that is so terrible!  We may be going to IVF soon- I guess you just find a way.  I know there are some super low interest rate loans also!!

IVF out of pocket costs depend on your insurance and your protocol.  The cost of ivf depends greatly on your protocol since for us the meds were the most expensive part.  I was taking Gonal-F which is probably most expensive FSH drug.  If you will be taking follistim, your meds will cost significantly less.

Heres the breakdown of my costs (I keep all paperwork for tax exemption):
Meds: $4500  (ouch!!)
Surgical fees:
retrieval: $1500
Transfer: $685
IVF lab charges: $3740 (this is w/o ICSI). With icsi you will be paying much more
Hospital charges:
retrieval: $1575
transfer: $596
Anesthesia for retrieval: $400

My insurance paid for u/s visits and blood work but did not cover anything else.
I hope this helps!!  Like I said, ivf costs vary quite a bit across clinics and protocols.

Without insurance, it can cost $10,000 or more, depending on how much medication you need. Not sure about how much insurance would cover...I think that depends on your insurance policy. Best of luck!
