Husbands Sperm test results came back...?

I am so upset. I have an intro uterus deformity, only my left side is communicating and is functional. My husband and I have a beautiful 5 year old daughter. They discovered my deformity while doing my c-section.

For the past 3 years we have been trying to conceive again. We were told it could be hard to do with my condition. Last week I had an HSG performed at Grant to determine any issues/blockages. My doctor said he had to push really hard to get the dye to go through my "functional tube" and that it could have been partially/completely blocked. He was able to force it open. I got really hopeful after this!

Now, I am taken back because we just got my husbands test results back for his sperm test and the nurse said the doctor wants us to come in and "have a talk" with my doctor. She said that the "Forward Progression" was "a little" low? She doesn't know much about sperm analysis and said that all she could tell me was the Forward Progression was 6%? ....I tried googling this and I am pretty sure its supposed to be 50%? .....

My husband does have a thyroid issue and is taking Cynthroid for it....but i don't think its working like it should. Could that cause infertility in men? Also, how bad is 6% ? the doctor is supposed to call me tomorrow to discuss but
I am really upset and want some info as soon as possible. I just need some hope right now. I am pretty upset, heartbroken.

Do you know if they were using the Krueger standard to measure his morphology? I am suspecting that is the case, as my dh came in at only 6%!

I was so freaked out until It was explained to me that the Krueger scale is much more critical than the regular one and most men will come in between 2-6%

I know how you feel, but take heart... it is usually easier to "correct" male issues than female.

As for your issues w/uterus... you have carried full term and have 5yr old DD soooooo try not to worry!!!

Hi, my husband also has thyroid issue (well, now he has no thyroid due to cancer) and is also on Synthroid.  After we had been ttc for a while I asked his endocrinologist if a thyroid issue could cause fertility problems in men (I know it does in women) and he said it doesn't.  My husband has a very low sperm count (620.000).  The only thing they did after that was blood work: hormone levels and chromosomal studies.

Don't know much about forward progression, but I do know that the thyroid shouldn't cause an issue!

hi dear

i dont have any child; i am 32; DH 36 and we found abnormal semen result; and we were heart broken too; i cried for weeks; and now DH is suggested to take MFS coast reproductive fertility medicine; you can buy over internet; this costs 100 dollars a month; and we have been seeing an RE for ICSI IVF; as that is our only option;

At RE's facility; they collected sperm and they washed it with pentox and then they found motile sperms; which are good for IVF; that was such a big good news for us; yet to start IVF so there are options; dont worry.

good luck dear

Thank you for your response! My husband is being very stubborn about taking further action...he said he would take medication, but he doesn't want to actually be physically checked out..I wish he would grow up! I just had the HSG performed and it was pretty painful because there were blockages. Can you tell me what they do to test for infections, ect?
Thanks for your help!
