Can anyone help me? I'm nervous about this test the doctor wants me to have done. It's called a Hysterosalpingogram (HSG). Is there any side effects I should know about? How bad is the procedure? Can someone help me???
It's a pretty cool test. You can see the dye going up your tubes on the screen as they are doing the test. So, you'll know results right away. For me the test was unpleasant but not painful
I had the hsg test done on may 28th and i am now pregnant! It doesn't hurt at all..didn't cramp or bleed! I am excited for you..You are very fertile for the next 3 months..that is if everything is okay..and I know it will be! Everything will be fine! Goodluck! Baby to dust to all!
but i had very bad pain during that, they told me to take a tylenol before i came but actually they really should have sedated me, i was in so much pain that 3 nurses had to hold me down so they could see it clearly. I dont regret doing it because it gave them a lot of info but it was very painful
I asked my doc why some women complain of excrutiating pain and for others it is just mild - and he said some places still use metal cathetars to inject the dye, rather than flexible plastic ones. This can be extremely uncomfortable. However, I've also heard (like corina said) that is just plain more painful if the tubes are blocked somehow. But I'm sure yours will be clear and everything will go smoothly - don't worry.
I had one done earlier this year and it was very uncomfortable for me rather than painful. i had a blocked tube that i found out from that HSG. The one thing i should mention (TMI sorry) is that your feet are in stirrups and quite high so a little embarassing. Also take painkillers before hand and bring a pad as you leak the dye afterward.
Thank You so much for the help!!! Just pray that soon after, I can give my husband and I a beautiful bundle of joy! I will keep all of you in my prayers as well!!! Thank You!!!
