I haven't bought one, but I heard that they're not very good.  Even at my OB's office, they had a hard time finding the heartbeat when I first started going in (weeks 12-20).  Now that I'm almost 25 weeks along, they can find the heartbeat fairly quickly.  But they have the top of the line equipment and it's still hard sometimes.  Like I said, I heard that the home dopplers can be really "junky" and don't work very well.  So don't be too discouraged!!

I agree 8 weeks is way to early.  You will find though that some days are easier then others to find the HB.  I bought one from ebay that I thought was junk.  I have been renting a better quality one which I will be returning next week.  My babies are moving around alot now & I go to OB every 2 weeks so I dont feel I need it anymore.

Best Wishes to you!!

I liked my doppler a lot, but you can't hear anything at 8 weeks.  Try at 12 or 13 weeks.
