Hi there
I am depereately looking for help,
I have pcos, am overweight and underactive thyroid as well as high blood presure. I know WOW! I fell pregnant on my own and am 4 weeks. I am having INCREDIBLE back pain and my doc says it has nothing to do with pregnancy!! I am very worried as I dont know what the chances are that I carry to term, what are the misscariage rates in my condition??? My doc is from the government hospital here in South Africa and he is very negative I always come home crying after seing him as he 1st told me I would not conceive now that I have on my own he has told me not to get too excited as the chances of misscariage are very high for me!  I know there is always a chance of misscariage but I am so devistated I just need some possitive words. Please help!
Does anyone know of someone else who has a similar contion tomine and has carried to term?
Please im so devistated and trying not to worry!
Thank you.

if your thyroid is treated, it won't contribute to your miscarriage risk, it is untreated thyroid that ups your risk, or if your thyroid meds are not monitored b/c your dosage needs change in early pregnancy.  be sure to get your tsh levels checked regularly.  good luck!

people with pcos do conceive- statistically, their chances are lower, but still...  and you did.  You now can carry to term.  One thing that will help this baby of yours is not to stress...  another is to get a little active--  walk, if nothing else...  underactive is curable.  start with ten minutes, and go from there-- it will also help you to strengthen some of the muscles you'll need later in pregnancy- not so many aches and pains from carrying that extra weight around.  Good luck to you-   I'm american so don't know if you're socialized medicine or if you can switch doctors.  It may be worth looking into it just to have someone you trust.  May you and your baby have a wonderful pregnancy together, and beyond.
