I have pcos I started provera then Metformin 3 days later and my period came 2 weeks apart. Is this normal?

Hi I'm new to this. I was diagnosed with pcos after not having a period for  months, but i have always been irregular.  I did a fasting test and it showed that i am aslo insulin resistant so my Dr. prescribed me provera wich i took for 7 days. on the third day of taking it i also started taking metformin.  I got my period 3 days after i finished up the provera but it's only 2 weeks later and i have my period again.  Is this normal?  And has anyone had any success on just taking metformin alone>
