as often as possible
from cycle day 9 thru cycle day 16.
* Fresh sperm is best, even though it can live up to 72 hours.
* OPK's are only 50% accurate.
* A woman ONLY ovulates for 12 hours.
* Mucinex thins cervical mucus which causes it to leave the uterus. Not good.
* Have a Folicular Stimulating Hormone (FSH) test to check ovary health.
The most important thing I think she said to me was if I don't eliminate all these tests I do: OPK's, BBT, Charting, Calendars, Gimicks, Fads, I will continue to drive myself crazy. I told her about this Forum and all my fellow POAS addicts and testers and she said please do this ONE THING:
between day 6 and day 19 and throw everything else out he window!
I'm seriously going to do this. I'm going to take her advice. It can't hurt right? What could better than eliminating all this stress, having wonderful sex
Thanks so much for your post. I have worried about a few of these and have always wondered how people ever got pregnant in the first place!
I have been obsessed with CM and the lack thereof because of Clomid. I FREAK OUT when my DH wants to use a lubricant. Preseed does not work for me because my body seems to absorb it all.
I am also glad you shared the news about Mucinex. I was trying that too, but never thought about any negative aspects.
Thanks for all the info! I'm curious about this one though:
* You count 14 days from the END of your cycle, NOT from the beginning of your
cycle to determine when you ovulate.
If that were true, then if you had a 5 day cycle, 14+5 =20 so you wouldn't ovulate until day 20? That doesn't seem right. If you have a 28 day cycle, that would only be an 8 day luteal phase which definitely isn't enough.
She said you determine ovulation by counting backward 14 days from the first day of AF.
So, if your cycle is an average of 27-30 days long, you should BD from day 9 thru day 16, and your ovulation day/time of only 12 hours should be covered.
If anyone thinks I'm still saying this wrong, please let me know!
The nurse practitioner's name is Pat Canavan. She is located at 1101 Beacon Street in Brookline. She works with an OB that delivers babies and she says he's a really good doctor. I just really trusted this woman. She really seems to know her stuff. I felt extremely at ease with her and felt like I could ask her anything and she would answer me. Let me know if you need more information.
Congratulations on your BFP! How's exciting! Best of luck to you for a happy and healthy 9 months!!!
Hi,
thankx for the info. u mentioned that we shuld get the FSH also chceked, can u please ask her that if i have FSH 10.3 on my cd3 what does that tells about my ovary and eggs quality and quantitiy.
thankx
Thanks for the info! I am torn because I really want to have a natural birth and several of my friends have used the Center for Women through Mt Auburn Hospital and been very happy with them.. but that is a bit of a distance from me and I'm wondering if I'll want to trek my way there for every appointment. Hmm... maybe it is worth it to know that the clinic will support my desire to give birth naturally. They have many midwives who are supposedly amazing!
Thanks for your good wishes, and good luck to you too!
