IUI 24 hours after trigger : 0

Hello everyone! Has anyone had an IUI 24 hours after trigger and it work?  I"m soo excited about my follies, for the first time ever i have a good number and they are all good size, 5 of them at 20-22! : )  even my left side (the partial ovary that never functions) that hasn't made a follie in over a year made one!!  but the bad news is that O will fall on christmas day adn we can't delay it further than that since they are already big.. so the RN at the dr's office this morning wanted us to convert it to a natural/intercourse cycle.. and trigger this morning.. but we have severe male factor, urologists have even told us IUI wouldn't work, we'd have to do ICSI.. so i said please let me do an IUI.. well the dr's office closed tomorrow at noon, so we are going to do the IUI at ten and i just triggered.. do yall think i have any chance with it 12 hours early? I wish i could make my trigger work faster!!! Thanks!

huh? thats interesting! yea one of the other patients at my dr's office said that he has her dh do mucinex before he does his thing.. and my dr is really great about being up to date on research and typically doesn' t do things unless the research shows it helps!  so interesting huh? GOOD LUCK GIRLS! : )

What kind of antihistimine does he use?

Here's what I copied from another site:

It is possible that men with thick semen may benefit from guaifenesin in the same manner it helps with cervical mucus in women. The suggested doses on the newsgroups and fertility boards range from two teaspoons twice per day to four teaspoons four times per day.

Hi- I'm not sure about mucinex but my RE definitely recommended an anti-histamine 30 min before DH does his thing so as much as possible comes out.

Does mucinex help men's semen?  I think i read on here earlier today that "antihistimines before the IUI helps semen volume."  I take mucinex anyway but my hubby thinks i'm crazy doing that.  (I worry the clomid could affect my CM.)  I may ask him to start taking some also, but I doubt he will.

I learn something new here all the time.  Awesome

Thanks girls! yall are making me feel much better! i was so excited to hear what my follies looked like, but sad that the one day a year the office closes was the day we should be doing the IUI !  In the past i've ovulated about 38 hours or so after the trigger.. i can feel the pains typically.. though this time i already have EWCM and am feeling the twinges early.. which has never happened on a treated cycle.. so hopefully with that + the hcg trigger we'll ovulate a touch earlier than the 38 hours!
We have poor morphology -2%.. so the urologist said no supplements/surgery or anything could  help.. he told us straight up only IVF with ICSI would work!  but my RE had seen it work with IUI (and its worked twice with us so he was right!)  i have had him taking 1000mg vitamin C plus multivitamin.. we might get him some mucinex  this go around as well, since we havn'et abstained like we should since we were planning on the IUI being next friday!
THANKS GIRLS! have a very merry christmas and I'm praying for New years BFP's for all of you! : )

Hi-- absolutely!  The swimmers will survive for a few days and you O almost exactly 36 hours after the trigger so the ideal would be for the swimmers to be waiting for that egg when you O the next day.  I don't know how low your DH's numbers are but the IUI will certainly help.

We just did IVF & used 1/2 our eggs for ICSI to guarantee we had some fertilize so if you get to that point, please drop me a note & I can share my experience.

BTW-- my RE has DH take an anti-histamine before he does his thing to get a bit more volume... and we've seen a HUGE increase in his numbers since he started taking a vitamin.  I'm sure you've tried all the tricks but you never know what will help!

Good luck with the IUI-- and the BDing the next day. ; )

I am glad you pushed them to do the IUI tomorrow, you did the right thing.  Yes I have heard lots of success stories about successful IUI's 24 hours after the trigger shot.  In fact, lots of people ovulate earlier than the "36 hour" rule.  Personally, i think waiting 36 hours is a bit of a risk.

Good Luck and remember to follow up with lots of babydancing after the IUI.

Merry Christmas!

Mine have always been 36 hours but I have seen others on here get BFP with 24 hours.  Best of luck to you.  I really hope this is it for you!!
