IUI after successful 1st IUI 2 years ago- Question

Hey ladies,
How are you? It has been awhile since I have been to this website.  I was wondering if you could tell me if this is normal/good sign/ bad sign.

In 2009, I had a successful IUI due to male factor. On Saturday and Sunday of this week, I had 2 IUIs in spite of the fact that my husbands analysis came back in the normal ranges. They think I might have a uterine polyp due to mid-month bleeding ever since my cycle came back after my first baby...but were willing to do the IUIs anyway.

Well ever since my IUI, I have had a dull ache pretty much non-stop. Is this a good sign that things are happening, or is this a bad sign that the IUIs didn't work? Did anyone experience this symptom before, and if so, what was the outcome? I can't remember what I felt with my first pregnancy because I was so sure it didnt' work that I never even charted. But I am pretty sure I didn't have this dull ache.

Thank you so much for your help!

Thank you Sally, I  appreciate the kind words, and congratulations on your pregnancy! I am sorry for your previous losses though. 6 IUIs must have been exhausting. I know I am exhausted and this is my first one since 2 years ago. I think I got spoiled when it worked on the first try with my son, but I really don't think that is the norm, and I just got really lucky. I am trying to keep positive but it is hard. I am a ball of anxiety. Is this your first baby?

Jenny, I am not sure what the cut-off would be in sperm count for IUI, but I can certainly ask next time I am in touch with my fertility clinic (probably next week sometime). Also, don't lose hope in the sperm count because it can definitely fluctuate. It may sound weird, but switching to all organic, and using natural soaps, deoderants, and anything that comes in contact with our bodies really helped my husbands morphology. He had 98% abnormal shaped sperm, and after making some changes in our lifestyle, his morphology went into the normal range. I think the same can hold true for count. Also, I heard about this condition with a vein in their testicle that can actually overheat the sperm and cause the count to drop. It is a quick and easy procedure to fix, and couples can often get pregnant not long after. But whatever it is, I am glad you are taking the next step by going to a fertility clinic. That takes a lot of courage, and when we finally decided to go, we got answers and a baby out of it. Good luck to you! PS: try calling to see if anyone makes cancellations, you may be able to get your appointment moved up :)

Best wishes that this month is it.  However, if it's not, don't be discouraged adn try again.  There is about a 25% chance of pregnancy each attempt. I am now successfully 20 weeks pregnant after my 6th IUI (with a few miscarriages from the previous attempts).

Hello Jenny!

Thank you for your message! I hope so too...isn't the two week wait the cruelest joke known to women?

My husband has low morphology, but his count, forward motion, and motility were all within normal ranges. But 2 years later (and eating lots of organic + getting rid of all chemicals), his morphology is now better.

I think it is worse with a morphology problem than a count problem. We got pregnant with 2% healthy shaped sperm! If he has just a low count, you would be perfect candidates for IUI, and yes the chances of it working are very good. Do you know what his count is? All they recommend (after washing the sperm) is 5million. My husband started with 25 million and got 8 million after the wash (meaning they threw away all the bad sperm and only left the good sperm). But my fertility doctor told me they had successful IUIs with just one million sperm. So yes, you definitely have a shot, and a pretty good shot depending on how low the count is. If it is very very very low, then they may suggest invitro. But I would try a diet change first to get the count up (organic food, etc.). It really helped my husband and IUIs are not nearly as expensive as invitro. Good luck you both!

I am not sure if those are good signs or not, but I hope they mean a BFP for you!!! Even if you did not have those signs with your first pregnancy it does not mean it's a bad sign, every pregnancy is different.  SSBD!

What was the male factor issue??  My hubby has low count but everything else is in normal range.   Do you think we have a shot if we do iui??
