IUI and infertility

I got my period on May31st, 2008, and began gonal-f shots, on june 10th I did the Ovidrel and on June 11th I had an IUI...on June 23rd I had my beta and it came back negative on June 25th which ironically as I was hanging up the phone I realized I was getting my cycle.  I was told to take a month off fertility.  I decided to use the ovulation kits as directed by the doc to try and still measure my ovulation, well by July 10th I had not surged and from my last few cycles thought I would have by then.  I decided to take a HPT and it came back Positive.  I got a horrible flu bug on Saturday the 12th and to ensure all was well I went to the hospital and they ran lots of bloodwork and said I had a stomach virus and confirmed I was pregnant.  Today (15th) I went to the doctor to do the ob confirmation and they attempted an u/s, and when she could not detect the baby (blob) the nurse said the doctor wants me to go to get blood work done today and then again on Thursday to eliminate ectopic.  I think I am only 3 or 4 weeks along isn't that too early in most cases to detect on an u/s...Sorry for being wordy!!!!

CONGRATS!!!! thats so exciting!    sounds like you might not know the exact date of ovulation, so it can defintely be too early to see anything no ultrasound !!!  did they do a beta?? that could help, get one and then another 48 hours later.... if your not having any pain thats also a good sign its hopefully not an ectopic.. also a large amount of ectopics have bleeding/spotting too! so hoepfully its just a ltitle too early! congrats and good luck! and i hope you have a happy healthy nine months ahead of you! : )

Well my first beta came back with an hcg of 31 so they are feeling either it is a very early pregnancy or it may be ectopic

well the number isn't as important as the fact that its doubling every 48-72 hours.. are you going back for a repeat soon?? I"m praying for ya that its a sticky healthy bean!!!

Yes, I go tomorrow for my second round, I just don't know why the doctor seems to be so stuck on the whole ectopic thing...I dunno, thanks for the positive wishes

thats good that you have follow up tomorrow, let me know how it goes!    I unfortuantely went thru a "beta hell" situation recently.. and throughout all my research learned that it seems "most of the time" that ectopics betas actually start out normal numbers( high good numbers) and then suddenly slow down.. typically when its a low beta and they cant' find anything on us.. its just too early.. and another scenerio is that there is a genetic abnormality causing it to not be doubling correctly or growing fast enough.. I pray for you that its just early and that everything will be fine!   you can look on this website (google- misdiagnosed miscarriage) and there are lots of stories with similar situations that turned out having healthy babies for some hope!    GOOD LUCK tomorrow! your in my prayers! i know how hard it is to wait and put so much weight on numbers!!

Well the doctor called yesterday afternoon and said my hcg level dropped a little and she is confident I will miscarry, she did say though that its a normal uteran pregnancy not ectopic like they thought...I guess there is a slight chance the baby could pull it out but not likely. :(

so sorry to hear about this!!!! at least you DID get pregnant! thats a great sign!    there is always a chance! looking at that misdiagnosed website was amazing, some of the stories! i wish I could have been one of them! and hope you are one of them! sometimes it can be a "vanishing twin" where you loose one but the other makes it early in pregnancy!    I feel for you, its so hard going by numbers and the waiting game, not knowing what or when it will happen!! let me know if you need anything your in my prayers!

Yea I am hoping for the best as I have not had any symptoms so far, but you are right at least I know I can get pregnant again.  I had my daughter 13 years ago no problems, now I'm 33 and can't seem to get a break, so I guess with all the fertility drugs at least something came out of it

Hi there, sorry I haven't been in touch but its been so up and down, the doctor called yesterday to say my hcg went back up a tiny bit so it makes it still suspicious for ectopic but it could be encouraging that the baby could make it.  Then late last night I started to bleed a bit but no cramping, just kind of felt like a period.  Went to the hospital they too said I am so early they can't tell and that I am in a state of a "Threatened Miscarriage" and that 30% of patients due miscarry and the other 70% can go on with a normal pregnancy.   So they said my cervix is still closed and again my hcg went up a tiny smidge so who knows...just wait and see

OO i'm so sorry to hear that you are going through this!  "beta hell" is so not fun!   Did you ever go to that website (misdiagnosed miscarriage) it has SO many success stories with slow betas, and bleeding.. and i'm praying that you will be one of those success stories!      I'm on my way to the dr here in a bit to check my beta (hopefully its gone down to 0!) and my mc is complete! (never thought i'd hope for that! ha!)   Keep me updated with everything you are in my prayers!

I completely understand, my numbers just keep going up a tiny bit to down a tiny bit but the prego symptoms keep getting more intense!!!!!  Its so crazy!!!!  I did go to that website and it is hopeful.  Let me know how you are doing!!!!

So sorry that your going through this! i am praying yoru going to be one of those success stories : )     when is your next ultrasound?  when things continued without a mc.. i requested another ultrasound (they had originally said if nothing happens in 3 weeks they will repeat it, but after 10 days with symptoms getting worse i had to know what was going on in there!) glad i did we got a lot of answers that way!    I'm doing good, i was supposed to hear about my beta today, but never heard back : (  grr hate when that happens! but i'm feeling good,, i feel like i'm either ovulating or getting a cyst! ha! not sure which one but uncomfortable on my working side like both of those.. so hopefully my body is getting back to the swing of things, and hopefully better than it used to be haha!

Hi there, hope you are doing well and your numbers have gone down the rest of the way.  I had another u/s today and they were able to confirm that this was not an ectopic pregnancy which is great because I only have the one remaining tube so I was concerned about damaging it.  The doc said that my numbers have gone down the way they are suppose to and I have had minimal bleeding, she suspects I should get my cycle in a few days seeing that I have all the symptoms and they do not feel the need to medicate me through the miscarriage.  The better news is that we can start again whenever we want, I am going to try and find a really good prenatal vitamin to ensure my body is ready for the next bean!!! I am hopeful a tad disappointed but hopeful and know that it will happen!!!  I hope all is well with you!!!
