Did anyone here used IUI without ANY fertility drugs and was successful? Or perhaps you know someone who was? Please tell me about your positive and negative experiences, I just want to gather some information. I know that many ladies on this forum were successful with IUI+injectables. Should I at least ask for clomid? I do ovulate on my own.
Well, I am new to this, it's just my 2nd month ttc. But, I read your profile and you say you've been ttc for 2 years?!!! That is a long time. So, yes I would suggest you start with Clomid at least. I assume you've had your FSH levels and prog. levels checked and dh SA? I would have your OB/GYn do a complete work up on you and/or see a reproductive endrocronologist (RE) to see what gives. The longest it should take is 12 months to conceive, after that definitely be more aggressive with your approach. Good luck!
. I did use clomid for 2 months before my surgery. Obviously, it did not work probably because of the scar tissue. I am getting very frustrated and impatient. My doc suggested we try for another year after the surgery but I can't wait that long. So, I told him I want IUI. Do you think I should be more aggressive?
I am also able to ovulate on my own but was not able to get pg naturally. I have had IUI with and without clomid... We always used the hcg trigger shot tho.
The first IUI we used 25mg of clomid cd5-9 and hcg trigger on cd12 (evening). 36hours between shot and IUI. I got bfp but it was ectopic
was on the side without a tube, so chances were very low anyway.
Third IUI, no clomid. hcg trigger on cd12 (evening). 36hrs between shot and IUI. I got bfp and everything has worked out.
If you ovulate on your own and cycles are pretty regular (within a couple of days), I don't think clomid is necessary. But I think the hcg trigger shot is important to help with timing of IUI. IUI can be timed without it, but I think the trigger shot gives you the best possible chances. Best of luck to you!! Hannah
Thanks for the information! So, HCG trigger is just for timing. IUI protocol I got calls for IUI after 24 hours of positive OPK in the morning. Since my surge usually starts in the evening, that would be about 36 hours after the initial surge. I guess I'll try that this month and if it does not work I will ask about the trigger.
