IUI today...should we BD again tonight or tomorrow?

Hi everyone...So we had our first IUI this morning and they did an ultrasound and I hadnt ovulated yet at that time.  Then I did an OPK about an hour ago and it came back positive.  Should we BD again tonight or wait until tomorrow?  Dr said we could tonight but I am concerned that this may not be enough time to for my husband to build up his sperm.  Our issues are related to his motility and morphology.  Does anyone know how long the washed sperm live for?  I thought it was a shorter time frame then the natural way.  Thanks for your help!

If your 2nd IUI is within the next couple of days I wouldn't so you can build up his sperm.

We don't have an second IUI scheduled...this was just my first time trying IUI.  How did everything go for you today?  Did they tell you to BD tonight or tomorrow?  Or do you have a second IUI appt?

No only one IUI here. It sounded like you had another one scheduled. I would definitely BD tonight and probably every day for the next couple of days. They said to BD tonight. We already went out to dinner tonight and am going to set the mood with candles.

The IUI went really well, just like a pap smear. The doctor was in and out in 5 minutes. I waited after in the room for 20 minutes.

I wonder why some drs recommend two and others only one?  Mine didn't even want to do another ultrasound.  He said they don't normally do them again the day of the IUI.  But he asked the nurse to do it again for me.  Dont think she was very happy with me but oh well.  So I guess we will BD tonight and tomorrow as well.  Keeping my fingers crossed for both of us!

My doctor always tells me to BD the same day as the IUI.  My husband has issues with morphology too.... but, they want you to cover your bases.  So I would BD tonight, and tomorrow even just to be sure if you are able to.  The sperm they washed today was the best sperm, most normal, so anything extra you put in there is good!! Best of luck! ! ! !

ck71 I think they don't like to do them the day of the iui b/c if you have already ovulated they don't want a very upset patient on their hands.  I've learned, if you want it, ask for it--you're paying them!
I would definitely BD tonight and tomorrow. Washed sperm live like 12-48 hours (from what I've read, but I'm not a dr), while regular unwashed sperm live 24-72 hours. Plus, if you got a positive opk today it could be 36 hours before you actually ovulate. So you need to get some unwashed sperm in there!
Good luck!!!
