hey yeah i know we havent talked i feel bad i dont want you to think that im in the center of the attention..but my u/s went good...the baby is measuring just right and from the u/s when i was in the hospital and now i can see the difference its so much bigger...the HB was 156 and my OBGYN was happy because at the hospital it was kind of low..so she says im not out of the boonies yet but we are keeping our fingers crossed..havent had any more bleeding or spotting..my only dilemma now is that my OB told me i can stop taking met. but im a little hesitated as some in here say to continue till 12weeks and some say to stop...but i just decreased the dose to 500mg x a day instead of 3 times that way they will last me till 12 weeks hopefully!
how are you feeling? whats your next step for this cycle? thank you for asking!
talk to you soon.

Elisa.

I've seen many great experiences on this forum regarding IUI's.  Sometimes it works on the first try and sometimes it takes longer... the one thing that you have to remind yourself is that either way, whether you do it natural or with IUI, you're still dealing with "chance".  In general a perfectly healthy woman still only has a 20% chance of getting pregnant... it's just a matter of when one of those little swimmers makes it to the egg!  So don't give up hope after 2 or 3... it'll happen soon enough (not to say I don't understand wanting it sooner rather than later... heck, all of us here are wanting instant gratification, aren't we?).  Hang in there and good luck!

Want2BeMama:  I haven't talked to you in a while... how did your pregnancy u/s go yesterday?

praying hard - Thanks for sharing your story.  This is very helpful.  Enjoy your pregnancy!

babyrush - Looks like we're in a very similar situation.  I'm going for b/w and u/s tomorrow to see what's happening this month.  Although this is my 3rd cycle on injections, it will be the first IUI.

yeah my RE also keeps telling me too many follicles is not good u ;ll have to go for reduction and stuff...why doesnt she understand I am not even getting pregnant with 1 or 2 ...so it shud be better to have atleast more than 5-6 to increase my chances....
so dont worry abt it...you will be fine even with 8 follies as all of them are not gonna develop to mature eggs

I am pregnant with only one...thankfully.  We would have been ok with twins as well, but triplets or more would have thrown us for a loop!  DH and I just agreed to do all that we could, and if God wanted us to have more than one, then it was meant to me.

Here are my Follistim injection cycles:

Cycle #1 - 75 units a day for 6 days....4 follicles (also ended up with OHSS)
Cycle#2 - 50 units a day for 12 days....1 follicle
Cycle#3 - 75 units a day for 10 days....2 follicles
Cycle#4 - 125 units a day for 6 days....6 follicles and a BFP! (I also still have OHSS)

We also did our trigger shot 36 hours before the IUI.

Best of luck!!!!  I'll be praying for you!

Hello!

I'm surprised that your doctor was that concerned with just 6 mature follicles.  I've had as many as eight mature follicles on just 50 mg of Clomid and my doctor has been happy with those results.  Perhaps there is less of a chance of releasing that many eggs even though the follicles are mature with clomid as compared to follistem?

I'm on my third IUI, and the first time I had 8 mature follicles, the second I had 6 mature follicles, and this round I only had 2 mature follicles.  I got pregnant four years ago doing the same thing, and only had two mature follicles, and I actually got pregnant with twins!  But, one of them didn't develop and "disappeared" early in the pregnancy.

Good luck to you!!!

What was the timing between hcg trigger shot and IUI?  I've noticed some do 24 hours and others 36 hours.  From my experience, I'm a believer in 36 hours.

Sorry things haven't worked out for you.

Hi, just out of curriosity, are you pregnant with 1 baby or multiples?  I'm currently on Follistim and am planning for the first IUI this month.  I'm responding pretty well to the meds, but the RE can't seem to get the accurate dosage for me;  First month I was on 75, that produced about 6 mature follicles, REs were concerned that its too much, but we didn't do an IUI that month and nothing happened.  Last month I was on 37.5, and only had one mature follicle.  This month i'm on 50 and we'll do IUI.  Whenever RE sees more then one follicle they start talking to me about the risk of multiples and they even talked about fetal reduction, which kind of scares me and I think is too early to discuss since so far nothing worked.

So I'm just trying to understand what are my chances of multiples.  Twins are ok with me, but if more that's scary.

I know how disappointed you are.  After our 3rd unsuccessful IUI, we were ready to give up because it was taking such a toll on us.  Instead our Dr. suggested doing one more IUI.  My Follistim dosage was increased and at the time of our 4th IUI, I had 6 follicles.  I didn't get my hopes up because I had been disappointed soooo many times before.  But, I was wrong!  The 4th IUI worked and I am now 7 weeks!

So, don't give up.  If the meds you are taking are making you ovulate, then stick with it.

What was the timing of your 2 IUI's?  I'm considering that this month also.
Thx!

I've had 2 unsuccessful IUI's and am confused and disappointed also.   I wonder if I'm ovulating, have good Prog. & FSH levels why isn't it working?  I'm ovulating and the goods are going right into my uterus so what gives?  However, I know the odds are that it'll happen, it just takes time for nature to to what it's designed to do, (with a little help - of course!).

Take heart and keep trying each try gives you better odds than the last.

hey i had an IUI before sometime in august and it dint work...it really depends if your using it along with other meds...such as for ex. clomid, injections or even trigger shot...where you being monitored all 3 times? when i was doing my first one the nurse was telling me thas it is very unlikely to work the first or second try even the third i was like ok so why am i doing it? ya know, but than you have to check your husbands spem also the mobility and the overall picture...i did gonal-f injections this cycle with ovedril to induce ovulation followed by 2 IUIs and it worked im 7w5d today and im going for my first prenatal app. today...so dont give up talk to your OB or RE and see what you can do to increase your chances....good luck.

I am sorry to hear that.  This cycle is my first IUI and it's new to me so I don't know what to say or to suggest to you.  does your husband have semen analyze yet?  Did your Dr. sonogram to check follicles? Did you take any medicine help you fertile?  and so on....

The success rate for IUI I do not know how much, but one thing I know there are couple ladies in this forum did success conceived 1st, 2nd, or 3rd IUI so there is chance there.
