... my bf has low sperm count of approx 12 million. my dr stated that there is a 50/50 chance of becoming preg using this option.. i have been trying for a total of 6 years and i am now 38 years old and will be turning 39 in july. i am getting very very frustrasted and feeling that there is no hope and time is running out. the dr suggested to get a donor but i know my bf will feel that because it is not his sperm and if i get preg it isnt his...we want so bad to have a child together and be 100% of both of us.. has any one in similar situation with age and sperm counts have concieved..unfortuanlly ivf is so expensive and insurance dont cover it.... i am just looking for hope anyone out there that can give me some...
this is something i really want but a loan just isnt going to benefit me at this point...financially isnt going to happen.. my dr told me it is $20,000 ++++ depending how many times it has to be done and i cant lose what i have and put myself deeper in debt.... so IVF is not an option... but thank you for the response...
my boyfriend also has a low sperm count (this time around) we tried IVF 4 years ago and all was fine, this time around we are back but using a donor egg. They have advised us that they will be using the ICSI method where they take one healthy sperm and inject it into the egg.
I have been looking into sperm regeneration and have found that unlike us women men can improve their sperm quality. This may mean cutting out alcahol (alcohol), cigarettes, drugs and even anti depressant medication. (see your dr about this one) Apparently all of the above can affect sperm count? Eat well and maintain a healthy life style. I really hope this will help you, it is a very stressful time.
Ps he is now 39.
I don't have the same age factor, I am 33 and dh is 31 but he had low count and low morphology. I do have other issues such as endo and don't always O. We tried IUI (Dr said normally she wouldn't do this but I had gotten pregnant before just took 4 years) and well... it worked first try. Maybe worth a shot, try a couple times then move to something more drastic. Good luck to you!
i was speaking to my bf and there are other issues that have to be resolved and more testing on his part and then with in 2 months we decided to try the IUI or artificial insemination depending on test results... per the dr recommedation
I'm 44 years old, had my first daughter at age 39 with my husband sperm count low first try IUI with 50 mg clomid. Had my son at age 42 with one try IUI and 50 mg clomid without shout or US.'
Now I'm trying for # 3 but sine few months hope it will be easy like the two prevoius pregnancies.
Nuha
IUI is often the treatment of choice for men with low sperm count. They can concentrate the good sperm.
He can also do things to help his sperm like eating a high quality diet (lots of fruits and veges and no junk foods), keeping his boys cool, regular exercise, making sure his weight is normal, no smoking
