Going for our first IUI in the morning... I only have one good mature follicle.... UGH..what are the success chances?

It only takes one! Sending you lots of baby dust!  Did you take medication? How old are you? Your success rate really depends on lots of factors about yourself.  Several women on here have gotten pregnant with one mature follicle.  I have had 3 several cycles, and it didn't work.  I have also had one several cycles, and that didn't work either.  But I am going to continue to try, been trying since June 2007.

I am glad the procedure went well and I am keeping my fingers crossed for you. I am suppose to be doing my first IUI this cycle and am still waiting for any of my folicles to get big enough and I have a u/s tomorrow to see if they are finally ready. I will be happy for just one mature folicle since I am already at CD18 and normally O around CD16. SSBD to you!!!

i am also will have my first iui after my second laproscopy hope it will work this time i ve trying for my second child for 3 years with no luck just one chemical pregnacy from ivf

I did clomid cd5-cd9. I just had an u/s today on cd19 and I have one folicle that has grown. Just like you I would have preferred a few more but for a while they had me worried that I wasn't going to have any so now I am relieved to have the one. They want me to do the trigger shot on Wed evening and come in for the IUI on Fri morning CD23. That is really late for me to O but I guess the clomid can really change your cycle. Good luck to you. Keep me posted on your progress. I am hoping we both are lucky on our first try.

Yea that sounds about right, I did my trigger shot on Friday night at 9.30 and went in for IUI Sunday morning @ 9am.

I think all in all everyone is different on how or how much they treat....If we don't get pregnant on this cycle, they will up the FSH shots next time and maybe up the clomid too in hopes of producing more follicles.

I have never posted in a forum but going a little nute, I had my first IUI yesterday with Follistim and Ovidrel trigger.  Boobs are VERY sore, my hubby had 13 mil sperm after wash. Anyone have any stories with Follistem/Ovidrel?  Waiting for 2 weeks is not fun.

Follistim is that the FSH shot? You had the IUI yesterday and your boobs are already sore....wow..I dunno I guess it's possible, everyone experiences different symptoms (from what I have heard) ...NOW me..

I have been a bit crampy since the IUI , my boobs don't hurt at all.... I am super sleepy today...and I woke up hungry this morning... well now actually... I had a strange tingling kinda feeling in my breast yesterday and today... but It's only been 3 days since the IUI...so I am trying to not pay attention to any symptoms b/c I am one of the people that has had every single pregnancy symptom and never been pregnant.... so I guess time will tell and lots of praying!!!

i am so crampy and in pain i dont know why i am trying to relax as much as i can and trying to enjoy every moment in the sweet 2ww :)

I had mine hmmm been 5 days now... and i am still crampy... not sever crampy but like every now and then sharp or pulling pain for a sec or two on one side or the other in low abdominal are... not sure what it is..... oh and noticed a clear discharge today??? dunno what that is....

Hi ladies, im in the similar boat. This was our first IUI, all natural. I only had one follicle on 3 may, size 20; and I think I ovulated on 4 may, that day we did iui. Hubby had 30 mil after wash, all at 100%. I been cramping since 4th, is that normal. We also bd the same night, doc recommended. Good luck to all of you, hope it all works out....any success stories with one folie and no meds?

Hi Everyone,

I'm about to do my 4th IUI on Wednesday (assuming all is ok at tomorrow's ultrasound when we will also do the trigger - on Saturday there was 1x15 mm follicle and 2 x 13 mm follicle.  If they continue should have 3 mature follicles for the trigger/IUI).  Had 2 pregnancies with the previous IUI's but unfortunately lost them. Am so nervous about this next attempt.  

Yes, cramping after IUI is totally normal.  If you used clomid you could have every symptom in the book (and more) and it can mean nothing.  Femara has less symptoms than clomid, but still it can play with your system.

Yes these symptoms are insane!!!!!! Sleepy mostly...and my nipples are itching and tingling.... holy moly!!! The cramping I can describe is more of a pinch from side to side....

Girls lets try to stay positive.... and lets just all ignore our crazy symptoms and chalk it up to meds.....

We all deserve to be momma's!!!

every symptom is screaming!

I did U/S this morning showed two nice follicles at 19 mm each (she didn't measure the smaller ones) and the endometrium has thickened up nicely.  Trigger done this morning and IUI tomorrow about 10 am.  

Am having twinges on each side and feeling like bd, which means that things are getting ready - am so hoping this is going to be 'my cycle', and produces a healthy sticky baby.

Have to go for a work meeting now and then will go for the IUI at 10:15 (all close to eachother).

Beginning to get crampy / lower abdomen pressure feeling - so hope that means I'm about to ovulate.  Crazy amounts of EWCM.  TMI!  LOL!

you know I just remembered, the day of the the IUI, when I was laying on the bed and doc put the thingy in, it felt so warm down and felt like there was tons of mucus.... it was a very bizarre feeling....I can't really explain it...:/

Pretty interesting experience these IUI.

this time they couldnt' get the catheter through my cervix.  Tried about 4 times with a big catheter.  Very painful and bleeding.

Ended up finally with a nurse pushing on my tummy to stabilise everything, and they used a very fine catheter, finally got it in, and they said all in with no spillage.

Hope those little boys do their job.  Tested yesterday also for progesterone levels and mine are very low.  Started on crinone yesterday and will start the injectables tomorrow (1 injection every 3 days), plus oral progesterone. until I know if I'm pregnant or not.  If not will stop all meds and wait for period to arrive.  If I am I'll be on the meds for the first trimester.

With the progesterone I'm probably going to have every symptom in the book (and still may not be pg).

Quite crampy today.  BD is painful (everything is sensitive today).  If successful by now the egg would have been fertilised and be moving down the fallopian tube.

ok..wow... do you have a tilted uterus? I do..and they told me that if they can't the cathetor through the cervix or have problems that is generally a good indication that the uterus is blocking your tubes so the sperm can't get through?? Now your case may be very different... but I asked my NP about it b/c i never was told in all my years that I had a tilted uterus and when THEY told me I asked questions b/c I had always heard that can give you problems trying to get pregnant, and what I mentioned above is what she told me then....

So I honestly hope that you don't have probs with that!!! Keep me updated on your progress!!

I am terrified that I am going to get a bfn with all these symptoms I am having... I am queeezy this morning and my boobs don't hurt but I have this one lacey bra that I can't wear at all b/c it makes my boobs itch and hurts my nipples, and i have a really sore lower back today.... SIGH... I better be pregnant..lol!!!

Hi, you're day 12 now.  You could test, but the chances of a false negative are high if you are pregnant.  Hey I'll so be thinking of you.

My test date is about 25th of May.  Already obsessing about this.  IF the eggs were fertilised they should be on their way down the fallopian tubes by now to the uterus.

Hey Girls, new here. Had my first IUI today, Day 10. I was on 5mg of Letrozole and the ovidrel booster. On Day 9 I had 4 mature follicles b/w17-19 mm and a few smaller ones b/w 12-15. The weird thing is that I haven't felt any symptoms from the meds. Does this happen after ovulation? My hubby and I have been TTC for 15 months. My FSH, TSH, HSG, and sperm analysis were all normal but I have a history of leukemia and 21/2 yrs of chemo at 15. I typically ovulate early, day 11. Is this why I don't feel anything from the meds or extra follies yet?  Baby dust to you all!!!

If you tested early than there is still a chance. If implantation occured late there might not be enough hormone for a positive result yet. I can't stand seeing the negative hpt so I try to put off testing as long as possible. This cycle I will wait until next Sunday to test.

Good luck with your IUI cycle. Some women are lucky enough not to have any symptoms or side effects from the meds. The 4 mature folicles sound very promising. SSBD to you!!!

Thanks, I thought that maybe it was a a bad sign that there might be some other underline problem. Although,  ironically today I am definitely more tired than normal. Maybe it's just taking a while. Hey Renny, was your IUI on the 9th? Have they checked your progesterone? What is the appropriate level after 1 week? That's when they are checking mine.

My IUI was the 6th and they checked my progesrerone level 5 days later. I never asked for the # and I don' t know how high it should be. They just told me mine was a little low but still high enough. Good luck with your test. I hope your levels are good.

Hi, I am doing ok... I was supposed to test this morning, but I didn't test b/c I got my BFN yesterday.....BUT thus far I haven't started AF yet..... so if I don't start AF today I will test tomorrow morning b/c I have to call doc tomorrow and let him know what the outcome was today......

DPO 5 for me.  Am feeling a bit nauseous and indigestion, and a bit crampy.  But these are easily explained by the progesterone they have me on. Saw my accupuncturist this morning and he said no sign of pregnancy yet.  I hope it is just too early to see a sign.  The earliest I can test would be next Sunday.  It is hard to wait.

I still haven't started my AF went for BETA this morning but haven't heard back yet, my NP said that if the urine test was neg this morning it's more than likely correct...so she doesn't thnk i am pregnant.... looks like cycle two will be starting shortly.... but I think if I only do one or two follicles we will do at home intercourse and not IUI..... only when we get 3 or 4 foll will we do IUI again :)

Hi! This is the first time I posted! I had my second iui on mothers day may 8 so I'm hoping that will give me extra luck :) it hurt really bad when they dud the iui. The first one I felt no pain. My symptoms are on d1piui I had mild cramping. Day 2 piui I had severe cramping on my left and right side same on day three and four. Also on day 3piui I had a severe headache that lasted all day! I feel tired, emotional, and scared! Now my left side has a little pain that cones and goes and I'm having alot of headaches. Just wanted to know if anyone else has had these symptoms. I'm testing on may 24.

Okay, I asked this question on another forum but I didn't get a response. So...Ovidrel makes your body produce both HCG and LH, which the LH is what stimulates your ovulation and is detectable by an OPK. So as you near the end of the 2ww at 9/10 DPO when an early pregnancy test can show positive, the big question seems to be whether or not it would be a true positive HPT given that Ovidrel can stay in the system for up to 12 days. But if you got a positive HPT and a positive OPT, then wouldn't that tell you that the ovidrel was the reason for the positive HPT. On the other hand, if the OPK was negative and the HPT was positive, then it would be from a true positive HPT because the ovidrel  affects production of both hormones? I know this seems a little heady, sorry!

Sorry to hear about your BFN. Its always such a bummer, but stats say that it can take up to 3/4 times for it too work. So, your chances will be better next time! If you can look at it that way:) Also, I read a pretty cool study recently that used cows to test ovulation induction. The conclusion was that pregnancy occured more often in mammals whose follicles ovulated as close to natural ovulation as possible.  The follicle size did not seem to be as big of a factor as long as they were over 12mm. Just a thought! Maybe there is something to not doing the trigger  until the first follicle is about to ovulate naturally. Worth a conversation with the Doc. Hope you are feeling okay!

I don't know the answer about if the HPT and OPK are positive and all that. I just know that my doctor's office said I needed to wait 14 days until after the trigger shot before doing a HPT or I could get a false positive. That means the soonest I can test is tomorrow morning. I am trying to hold of until Sunday morning, but I don't know if I can this time. This has been a long cycle for me since the clomid pushed back ovulation 1 week. I have no idea when to expect my AF now. I am usually on a 28-30 day cycle and am already at CD35. I know if I take the test tomorrow, I won't 100% believe the results no matter what they are and yet I am still tempted.

Sorry to hear about AF and BFN.  They say the chances are somewhere between 12 and 25% per cycle.   Hope your next cycle is the one.  Stay with it.

I just got a bfn at 14 dpo. I am a little bummed but after 13 cyles of ttc I am use to it. This is actully only the 3rd time I took a hpt and the other two times af came just hours after getting my bfn. I just hope af comes soon so that I can start IUI round 2. The clomid has messed up my cycle so much I don't know when to expect af. This is the longest cycle I ever had. The nurse said that if they up the dosage of clomid on my next round this shouldn't happen again. I hope she is right. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting to test. SSBD to all of you!!!

It was 13 cycles of trying to conceive with only one of them using meds and IUI. I believe this cycle I was only on 50mg of clomid. They said they would up it next cycle but didn't say how much. Good luck this cycle. I am keeping my fingers x'd for both of us. I love to see happy results, even if they aren't mine.

My af arrived so I'm on to my second try at IUI. More fertility meds and crazy moods, followed by a 2 week wait and fingers crossed. Because of my age and lack of a partner, I need to talk about how much longer I go on with this. Has anyone had a similar situation?

I am with you on how hard it is... I am 34 trying for my first, been married 11 years and we haven't had luck and never really persued it as much as we are now......

Just got through my first IUI cycle also and did not take, so they upped the meds on the 2nd cycle...and it's making me feel so sick all the time and not to mention how bitchy I am all the time too.... I feel bad for my husband!!

I guess it was a false negative I got at 14 dpo because I tested this morning at 17 dpo and got a BFP!!! I don't go to the doctor to test until Wednesday and I don't feel like I will totally believe it until then but I am still excited. After 13 months of ttc I finally got to see the "Yes" instead of "No" on the First Response Digital test. Now I just need this little bean to stick.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm 40 and yes I am using donor sperm. I go to the doctor tomorrow and see if this cycle has potential for another try. I'm quickly running out of time and hoping my doctor can help me make some decisions about how much longer i should continue. My whole life plan is not working out the way it's supposed to. I'm supposed to have 3 or 4 kids by now....Ah the irony of it all :)

Grew up being told ...Don't get pregnant, ( my mom had me at 16) so I had such a fear of becoming pregnant.

I got married, bought a house and started ttc, and here we are 11 yrs later... deciding to do something about it... but we are not going to do more than 3 cycles, if doesn't go, we're done.... we can't afford IVF :(

Went to the doc today and started another cycle of fertiltity meds. This is my last sperm sample and I'm hoping to have a good shot at it this time. My doctor is not ready to give up and says it can take as many as 9 or more tries at IUI. I can' t think that far ahead. She also taked about a stronger fertility drug which is very costly but before I consider that she may look at doing a laproscopy to make sure that there's nothing going on inside that may be causing my infertility. Gottta say, that sounds like lots of fun....I have decided that it's going to work this time and then I can get on with it! I will update as this develops!

She told you 9 times!!?? My doctor told me that if doesn't take after 3 tries the chances of it taking are slim.... wow amazing how all doctors have different opinions....

I have now tried 4 iuis.  I got pregnant on 2 of them (the last one failed - just found out today), and 2 not.  Only problem is that i then had miscarriage.

Seeing I can apparently get pregnant fairly easily with IUI we'll keep doing this for as long as it takes (well at least all this year)....

I have had two laporascopies, found I have endometriosis.... but other than that my tubes were open and everything else looked good.

Started fertility drugs yesterday...10 mgs of femera. I've been on DHEA for several months now too. I had 2 follicles last time and with this combination of drugs, there are supposed to be less follicles but better quality. There are so many numbers to remember, that I've given up trying. When my doctor tells me to keep going I just keep going. I'm holding on to the fact that I've had one pregnancy which tells me I can get pregnant...I miscarried but I'm really trying not to focus on that. Does the worry ever end...seriously!

I don't think the worry ever ends!! The numbers are alot to remember...it's insane, Maybe i pay too much attention to it.... i am usually in control of matters and frustrates me to death this is one thing i have absolutely no control over!!
