IVF Medications for High FSH

IVF Medications for High FSH

Hello... I am 39 with a FSH of 31.  It fluctuates from month to month, it's been as low as 6.3.  I'm seeing a doctor right now at a fertility centre who has told me that if he sees my FSH level go down again to under 12 then we would be eligible for our first IVF cycle.

We don't have the money to do more than 1 IVF cycle, so I'm trying to do a little research on my own on the medications to see if I'm seeing the right doctor.

It would be greatly appreciated if you could have a glance at the medications my doctor has prescribed to me to see if anything looks odd to you.

Orgalutran
Puregon or Gonal F - I said that I didn't have a good response to Puregon during and IUI cycle, so he then added Menopur
HCG (PPC)

Also, do you know what protocol this is?  I've heard that the Antagonist Protocol is best for high FSH, but I don't know what the Antagonist Protocol consists of.

I wish I could help. I feel bad you have not gotten a response, but I don't think anyone on at the time knows. I am 42 and FSH 7.2.  Mine seems to stay really consistant. Have they any idea why yours fluctuates so greatly?

I found this website, I hope it's helpful in explaining the antagonist protocol.
Good luck!

hi,the GnRH antagonist protocol is 1 which shuts down the pitutary by closing receptors&thus stopping GnRH(gonadotropic releasing hormones i.e FSH&LH)secreation within 2 hours the other solution to shut down the pitutary is GnRH agonist,it works by deciving the gland making it feel that there is too much gonad hormones&thus also stops secreating them,it works on negative feed back mechanism,it takes longer time than antagonist, about 1 day,&the antagonist is taken once per month but agonist is taken daily till ovulation is achevied,u can't tell which is better as both finally give same result which is shutting down the gland whatever way it works, this month iwas taking agonist&fostimon inj.as stimulator&this protocol forced me to IVF as my RE said it is a must for hperstimulation to happen to me this month so to avoid it ihave to do IVF,iam now back from embryos transfer&in the boring 2ww,ask god for me&u r in my prays good luck.
by the way iwas taking puregon before&made iui with it but nothing, ithink fostimon is better than it &cheaper, ask your RE about it.
