I clicked "first try" because that is true. However, we then had one FET that produced identical twins that miscarried at 9 weeks, a fresh cycle that didn't take at all, and a frozen cycle that produced nothing. So, 1 out of 4, (or 2 out of 4 except that the second didn't wind up with a live birth). Insurance covered zero related to IVF.
Fourth IVF try led to a viable pregnancy. Insurance did not cover a penny. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do NOT give up... the pain, torture, and anguish of the failed cycles are well rewarded when success is achieved. Best wishes to all.
I actually got Pregnant from my first FET, but miscarried. We didn't get to do a fresh cycle in the beginning because my uterus wouldn't thicken up, but had 19 eggs that were sucessfully fozen. I am on my 2nd FET (done on 2/15/10), and am having similar symptoms, so I am cautiously optimistic. My insurance only covers the ultrasounds and BT's. The rest I have been putting on a credit card that is interest free for 6 months and paying it off. the FET's were 9 months apart. I honestly cannot remember how much the inital amount was *we used donor eggs from a known person, so it was cheaper, because of my age and wanting the best changes possible*. Frozen cycles are much cheaper then fresh cycles too. The first cycle was $1200 (because of not being able to do fresh cycle) and the cycle we did on 2/15/10 was $2800. Hopefully we will not need a 3rd!!! But if we do, I will probably just put it on the credit card again and be in debt for a while.
For me,the second attempt was succesfull. But it might be usefull to add that after that I had another two ivf's,both successfull,so it was three in a row!Well.no I don't have three kids, only one-a wonderful one-but that's a different story..Ivf can certainly offer such happiness,if nature or time are against us.
