Im going to change my user name for anonymity purposes. (Just waiting for clearance.) My nickname is indeed "Lala," and since there aren't too many 46- year olds who live in Uruguay and are having twins under the name "Lala," I would prefer my kids to be the ones to share or not share the donor thing when ready. (My close friends know and my mother will too.)
drugs for one more week (the last week that you can be on them - the other drs here won't do it but my dr feels the risks outweigh the benefits as am only at 25 weeks). So, the drugs should get me to 26 weeks hopefully. After that, the babies could come soon as my contractions
That said, you may get a big surprise with how long you thrive past 26 weeks. In the end I still believe you and your babies will continue to preserver. And I'll still keep believing you will make it long past the 26 weeks. xo
Thank you Pecas. I hope you are right. Just realized I'm in my 20th week of bedrest. The first four were more my choice following the transfer. Then I had 3 great weeks before the bleed. Crazy! Best wishes for all.
No one can possibly know what it's like to be on bedrest without much breath and extreme worry for 20 weeks of pregnancy. I'll envision you and your babies healthy and everything being sweeter because of what you have gone through. Again, role model, role model, role model....
Has anyone had the gestational diabetes testing yet? I tested positive today. If you test positive you move on to a second test. If the second test is positive you do have GD. Hoping for a negative. SG
That happened to my sister-in-law. The second test (3 hour gluclose) was fine and she never heard anything about it again.
I'm going for mine in like 2 weeks.
Thanks TN - had my 3 hr test this morning - negative - yeah!!!!
SM - It tastes like sweet orange soda. It doesn't taste bad at all, it's just very sweet. The first test is 50 mg of sugar, the second test is 75 mg of sugar. Mine took two hours to come back from the lab (both times). (GD=gestational diabetes).
Bit of excitement last night. Contractions all day and then they were pretty intense and every 8 minutes. After 5 regular ones I called the nurse. She put me on the monitor and they were every 7 minutes and then every 5. She brought the doctor and he did an internal check, cervix is not dialated, just open slightly. It's the hematoma doing it's thing. I really thought it was going to happen so I was relieved. Stomach is rock hard, uterus very irritated as hematoma has started to shed again. Getting very week, difficult to walk, but hanging on as long as I can...
The hematoma saga continues. Just got back to my room from the Birthing Unit all day. Hematoma still bleeding and irritating uterus and cervix. U/S this morning showed shorter cervix (they couldn't find it for some time due to hematoma in the way and more dilated. Contractions strong,. Due to the position a c section was advised. I had magnesium sulfate to help prevent .cerebral palsy by iv for 10 hrs while being monitored one-on-one by a nurse. Doc assessed cervix at midnight - it changed a bit from all the contractions all day but not enough to go ahead tonight. She said we're looking at tomorrow or Sunday. My nurse back in High Risk thinks I have a bit more time. The pain from the contractions is ridiculous. They don't want to give me morphine so the symptoms aren't masked. Just wanted to type while I wait for dinner (wasn't allowed to eat or drink all day).
Hi,
I had ivf in january of this year,on Saturday i found out i am pregnant but i cant wait to see the doctor next week for the date its due. The problem is i cannot work out the dates because my last period was September 2011 as i have Poly Ovaries Syndrome.
Praying for you and your babies!! Anxiously awaiting an update!!
TO: Sharon
Welcome to the group and congrats!!
If you had an IVF cycle then your last period in September doesn't matter. Your doctor should be able to tell you have pregnant you are based on when they did the egg retrieval and embryo transfer.
Question for u ladies. Do any of you have cramping in your stomach. Mine literally feels like the baby is trying to push its way out. It hurts if I bend or stretch. Doctor did tests however I have to wait for results so I want to know if I'm the only one! Thanks!!!
It it's comfortable for me to bend over or stretch but it doesn't hurt.
A friend of mine says when her baby kicks that it hurts her but she seems fine. I have had no real pain, though.
Make sure you are drinking enough water and putting your feet up.
If interested you can check out my correspondence with twin expert Dr. Barbara Luke regarding my weight gain and fetal weights at 28 weeks. It's in my latest journal.
Babies doing well! They were transfered from the level 3 NICU (highest level) to a level 2 NICU hospital today because they are doing so well. They are now only 2 blocks away which is so handy. Still huffing and puffing but getting around a bit now since off bed rest. Hope you are all well and thank you for your messages! SG
Great to hear the news! So happy to hear you are all doing well.
From this moment on things will only get better the worse is behind you.
Hugs to you and those boys!
Always in my thoughts. XXXXOOOO
Anyone else have early preterm labor and make it fine. I am 32weeks and just spent 5 days in hospital with preterm with my twin boys. Both are only measuring 3lbs 12 oz. and I do not want to go that early, they are so small. Anyone else have this but still make it all the way?
How is everyone doing these days?
I'm 32 weeks and feeling pretty good! Swollen joints and everything ;)
Eli is breech so we are praying he flips soon!
Hope all is well!
Great to hear from someone! I thought this thread has lost everyone's interest. So glad to hear you are feeling well!! Don't worry your baby still has plenty of time to turn.
Wondering if anyone has started putting together a birth plan??
As for me I am feeling fantastic. It has been a very uneventful pregnancy.
My husband and I are attending Bradley Method classes and hope to do all natural childbirth with no chemical intervention. We are strongly contemplating doing a home birth. I want to keep my legacy, I was born at home.
Hope all you ladies are doing well and hope to hear from you.
I am always grateful for the support you have all given me.
With love, XXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I hope everyone's pregnancy is going well. I'm 33.5 weeks pregnant and found out at the 32 week check that baby is breech. I'm doing exercises to try and get the baby to flip because I really want to have a natural delivery. They will check again on Wed. at the 34 week check-up. If the baby is still breech by 36 weeks they will try to physically move the baby guided by u/s. I cannot believe how close we are all getting to the due dates.
Just thought I would check in - nice to see everyone! Boys are still in the NICU. Theo has an opening in his heart that is supposed to close before birth so this is often seen in preemies. If it doesn't close he will need surgery. Their head bleeds have resolved. Theo came off oxygen yesterday after going back on again. Hope he can stay off now. Benjamin having some spells where he forgets to breathe. This week they are supposed to be capable of starting to eat (suck and swallow at the same time). They both passed their hearing tests and their eyes are developing as they should for their gestation so very happy about that. It's been a stressful time. One day they will come home. :-) Hope everyone is doing well...

Yeah, I guess since it's been uneventful, there hasn't been much to write about! hehe That's so good to hear, though. I would love to do a home birth and that was our original plan, but now that we have a Ds diagnosis, we really need to be at the hospital. Plus with Eli being breech...who knows? I've tried a few methods to get him to flip and I plan to talk to my acupuncturist before too long. From what I have read, it's pretty difficult to get them to flip after 36 weeks because of the lack of room in there. But it's not impossible for them to flip at the last minute. So we will see! He's my stubborn man for sure ;)
TO soccermom
Yup, I'm still praying for both our little guys to flip!! :)
What exercises are you doing?
TO: SG
So so glad to hear such a positive update! I know life in the NICU can be draining. We are praying every day for their strength and hoping you can take them home soon. :)
TO: ALL
I had my baby shower yesterday and I am feeling mega blessed! Everyone is so in love with our little Eli already. :) We can't wait to meet him.
I've decided to take my maternity leave at 36 weeks, so only about 3ish weeks left. Then I will have time before he gets here plus the whole summer with him. Can't believe how our lives are about to change! Does this overwhelm anyone else?! lol
I've tried pelvic lifts several times. We don't have a full size ironing board to lean against a couch so I used an exercise ball with my butt/hips on the ball and my head on a pillow on the floor for 10 minutes. It is NOT comfortable and hard to stay the full 10 minutes. I've also spent some time on the floor on my hands and knees, both crawling and just staying in that position. Hubby and I have tried using cold packs at the top of the uterus and a flashlight at the bottom of the uterus. It sounds like we are torturing the baby but our prepared childbirth instructor actually recommended chasing the baby with the cold pack until it moves down to the right spot. Today I went to the pool at my gym and spent some time standing on my hands and doing somersaults in the water. I'll find out Wed. if any of it worked. Does your acupuncturist do moxibustion? That's my next plan of attack if baby is still breech on Wed. Then I'll try external cephalic version with the OB/GYN at 36 weeks if baby is still stubborn. When is your next check-up?
hehe we have tried all the same things!! lol
Minus the pool, since I don't have access to one.
My OB won't do ECV at all, so that leaves us with nothing is it doesn't work.
But I haven't spoken to my acupuncturist so I need to get on top of that.
I'm now seeing my OB weekly, but he isn't worried about Eli flipping until 36 weeks, so he didn't check or do an ultrasound. It feels the same, so I doubt he has flipped, but that's just me.
I will let you know how the acupuncturist works out.
girls GOOD LUCK with those who need the lil ones to flip, fingers crossed they do soon so you can continue to enjoy the last month or so......
My pregnancy has been unbelievably great, all Im getting is sick in the evening, when I go to bed until I get up.
However this last month I have had bad news that my brother has Kidney cancer, which went to his brain, within 2 weeks he has had brain surgery and his kidney removed only to find out, he has another 2 tumors in his brain and 2 tumors now in his Lung....... so while he is recovering we will find out the next step on the 16th, He is sooooo positive and has been amazing, keeping all the family hopeful.....so Ive not had any time to be sitting thinking about labor..... Im hoping one day I will feel a pain and then say OH IM IN LABOR ha ha (if only that easy ha ha)
Can't wait to see who will be the 1st to post their baby been born news.
Take care everyone.
Big hgs

I'm not due til May 14th so I've got another 4 and a half weeks. The baby shower is this Sat. and I am very excited about it. When are you due? I'll find out on Wed. if baby is still breech. My ob/gyn would not look at my 34 week check-up because she said there was no point since the baby could flip until 36 weeks on its own. I cannot believe how close we all are. Keep us posted on how you are doing please!
C-sec date set for April 27th. I will be 37 weeks. Both babies are about 5.5 pounds right now at 35 weeks. The doctors are very pleased with everything.
Less than 2 weeks to go! That is so exciting. I forget, do you know the genders?
Today I am 36 weeks. I cannot believe I only have 4 weeks to go or less or more depending. We had the shower on Sat. and I feel so much more prepared for this baby.
I'm 37 weeks today and I went to the hospital for external cephalic versions to try and turn this stubborn baby head down. The procedure was EXTREMELY painful and on the fourth and final try the ob/gyn's finally got the baby head down! I pray that the baby stays there. While they were monitoring baby and me I found out I was having contractions and didn't even know it. Crazy!
I gave birth to 2 precious lil angels Ammar (boy) 5.10oz and Alaiah (girl) 3.4oz on 4/14/12... I was 35 weeks.. Babies are doing good baby boy is home with us and baby girl still in the hospital due to her weight, hopefully she will come home by Friday..
mintavarez: Many congrats on your babies and I love the names! It must be so great to be able to hold your babies and you got a boy and a girl, fantastic!
thosenewmans: your c-section is on my due date! We may be delivering babies the same day :)
scottishmummy: hubbby and I are going to be surprised on gender but more than 90% of people that guess are saying boy. we'll see if they are right in the next few weeks.
Tomorrow is my next prenatal check and I'll find out if baby remained head down after yesterday's torture procedure.
I had my check up today (37 weeks) and he is measuring small, he is moving around a lot & kicking, he has a strong heart beat. He said he is still high so I have to have an ultrasound, but cant have that until next thursday..... Everything apparently was all good 2 weeks ago at my last check up... its worrying but praying everything will be OK.......
Baby stayed head down at my prenatal check on Wed. Yeah!!! Ever since the baby turned I have been able to see the movements on my belly so much better and it seems like the baby is much more active. The ob/gyn said the baby was frank breech so its legs were up around its head. Maybe now the legs have more room to move around.
Let us know how the u/s is on Thurs. I'll be praying for great results!
Congratsulations!!!!! You did it. I am so happy for you. Don't worry Your little girl will be home soon!
Also Pecas just had her twins. Congrats to Pecas!!!
The next couple of weeks are going to be exciting for all.
I will be 38 weeks Monday and my baby is weighing in small, they are doing NST's and growth anatomy. Unfortunately, Dr's just found hypertension, so they are keeping a close watch. I am hoping there is no labor induction.
Keep me in your thoughts.
Hugs to all.
thosenewmans, Pecas282, mintavarez
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL... Ohh the babies have started to arrive and everyone is healthy. Such a blessing.
CONGRATULATIONS..........
redhead68, I am small in size they said and will have an ultrasound on Thursday to make sure everything is OK. I am 27 weeks today. Thinking of you. keep us posted.
Congrats to both of you and enjoy this time of snuggling with your babies! I cannot wait to meet mine. 38 weeks tomorrow. It's so crazy knowing that labor could start at any moment.
Baby is still head down at today's check-up, yay!!! But, the midwife told me baby is posterior or sunny-side-up so that usually means longer and more painful labor with a lot of back pain. Can't win them all. 11 days til due date!
I am 37 weeks & 5 days, had ultrasound today, he is head down.. Phew..... But he said he is small in size and he will only weigh about 6lbs....he has booked me in to be induced on May 14th....... not looking forward to be induced so fingers crossed I go into labor myself...
What is the reason for inducing early? Don't they want to give your baby as long as possible to grow bigger? If you do end up getting induced it will be on my due date! Maybe we'll deliver the same day! I will pray though that you start labor naturally. I have heard from another lady that she went into labor spontaneously on the morning she was to be induced. Keep us posted!
Well, I am 39 weeks and 2days pregnant. My baby weighs 6.5lb. and things seem to be back on track. My due date is 5/14
Don't believe the dr's all the time, they make plenty of mistakes. I do not want to be induced, our plan is to have natural childbirth.
Artificial induction usually leads to a cascade of chemical interventions. One of the main reasons they want to induce is because most of us are in the high risk category because of age. Our placenta's are older and there is risk of detachment from the baby. I still am a believer that our bodies know what to do and with all the technology we have, dr's are able to keep such a close watch on everything.
Anyway, what an exciting time for everyone. Let's all stay in touch !!!
I had my weekly check-up today and baby is still head-down, YAY!!! No c-section! The midwife estimates baby is more than 7 and less than 8lbs and I've been dilated at 1 cm for the last 3 weeks. 4 more days until due date and wondering when baby will make an appearance. Any more birth stories out there?
Thought I would add to the birth stories on this forum! My water broke last night at 5:30pm while I was at home. I phoned the hospital and asked if I could take a shower and get ready before coming in and they said that was fine. So we arrived at the hospital by 6:30pm with me still gushing water off/on. They admitted me but I was only having very mild intermittent contractions. I started real labor about 1am and delivered my surprise gender baby girl by 8:29am without drugs. It was hell with no sleep and the last food at 10pm. I did not think I would survive and was so ready for the nurse to say it's taking too long let's give you drugs and/or c-section...anything for relief! I thought I had a high pain threshold but it kicked my butt! But when I hold baby Grace Addison it is all worth it. Hubby and I are mesmerized by her. Can't wait to hear more birth stories!
CONGRATULATIONS.............. And it's a lil girl. I love the Names, I had Addison of I was having a girl..... Woooo toooot. So happy for you. Well done for no drugs...... Me on the other hand I will take everything...... I can't do that kind of pain....
Congratulations again.....
Well, I got induced on Monday and a few hours into it they had to stop the IV. His lil heartbeat was dropping everytime I had a contraction, so 1 1/2hrs later I got a C Section, Little Liam Alexander was Born at 9:50am, 5lbs 11oz & 18 1/4" in length.. He is a lil cracker....... Good luck to the others who still have to give birth and keep us posted.
Big hugs xoxox
Congrats!!!! I am so glad Liam made it out safely. Are you still at the hospital? We had to stay 2 extra days. The first because Grace was cold and the second because she had to be under the UV lights for jaundice. It was so nice to finally come home. Now I am trying to get used to very little sleep and nursing all the time (or so it seems). Isn't it just amazing every time you look at your little baby?
I only stayed in until the friday, (4 days including the day of birth) He was under the lamp for heat but only for an hour and we kept an eye on him becoming Jaundis but it worked out all OK....
I know how you feel, just a feeding machine ha ha, however my lil man is sleeping great so Im not tired as with lack of sleep, he is sleeping lots and is great. We have his 1st Doc appointment and hopefully he has put on a couple of ounces.......
I just sit and watch him sleep, its amazing and I still can't believe he is all mine........ :-)
Well,
She is here my beautiful, baby girl Giada.
Born on May 15Th!!
Best to all!!!
After a very long and natural labor I feel that the real hard work is just starting for the next 20 years.
Thanks to all for all the support and encouragement!!!
