IVF SUCCESS AT 40+ WITH OWN EGGS?

Hey girls ~ just wondering if there has been anyone on here with IVF success with their own eggs after 40..??..~I know there's a similar thread on here but it's all with donor eggs ~ I wanted a more specific answer obviously ~ Thanx for ALL your input~~!!!!...:-)~nervous~starting talks, etc.. today

Well, I hope to be a success. I had my third IVF in February (I was actually 39 but turned 40 two months later in April), and am now 13+ weeks pregnant.  Had been trying for 17 months, with zero known fertility issues for me or DH. My FSH was 6. Things have been a little shakey (shaky) this past week, with some bleeding, but as of my ultrasound this morning, baby is doing fine. Is that the kind of info you were looking for? Thanx for the well wishes ~ was told today "TOO OLD TO DO IVF" ~ "CORNELL DOESN'T do after 40" there is NO WAY ETHICALLY ANYONE WOULD TAKE A CHANCE...STATISTICS HAVE OBLITYERATED ANYONE AFTER 40 FROM GETTING AN IVF UNLESS THERE WAS TUBAL PROBLEMS OR A VASECTOMY REVERSAL PROBLEMS ~ "EXTRAORDINARY CIRCUMSTANCES" ~ "THEY" "STOPPED DOING IVF ON ANY WOMAN OVER 40 YEARS AGO"..??.. ~ DO YOU KNOW OF THIS INFORMATION..??........(.I WAS TOLD TO ASK THE OTHER RE WHO IS SO WELL-PUBLICIZED IN NJ OF THIS INFORMATION , ETC....TOLD HIM I'D RATHER NOT DO THAT BECAUSE OF THE UNCOMFORTABLE FEELING WE GOT ).........??........SO WE WERE DIRECTED TO PICK OUT A DONOR MOM'S EGG ~ FOUND ONE WHO REASONABLY RESEBLES ME ~ DUE TO THE "CERTAINTY" OF DOWNS, ETC.......MOST PREGNANCIES "AT YOUR AGE" END IN MISCARRIAGES...........NICE POSITIVE TALK ~ AN THERE WAS NO WAY HE WOULD EVEN CONSIDER DOING AN IVF WITH MY OWN EGGS........

Hi I am doing my first IVF and I am 45 years old. My clinic said that chances are small but I have good FSH and they are prepared to try. I live in South Africa. It might be that in your country there is a different approach but perhaps you should enquire if other states or places have a different approach. Good luck!

...depressed...DH doesn't want to try with my eggs and now I'm being oushed to just get the donors...am also very angry he made me wait this long ~ will be calling the hospital (Cooper) to set things up for MY eggs ~ will turn 45 on the 25th....

I feel your pain. If that's what you want to use your own eggs, can you look for a different Dr. I went through 3 egg donors.  It took me 3 years waiting for these 3 donors. 1st donor did not past blood test. I had to pay out of my pocket for all the blood test. 2nd donor had cyst took a year for the cyst to go away and she produced only 3 follicles, cycle got canclled. I had to pay for all this out of my pocket. 3rd donor produce only 3 follicles and the Dr's asked me to cancel the cycle and I said "no" because I waited 3 years for these donors so we went foward the next day she produce more follicles. Retreived 7 , 5 fertilized. Transfered 2 egg 5 day blastcyst. I am at the two week waiting now after 11 years. I had cramping 3 days after transfer buy now is gone. I don't know if it is good thing or bad thing. My breast if very painful like the sytoms that my period is coming soon I am very nervous. I wish you luck.

Hi girl!
You disappeared from the AGP post.
What is going on?
I wanted to let you know that if you need names of RE that I think will do IVF after 40 I might have few ideas.
You know Cornell and Mount Sinai are the biggest programs in the city so they are more concerned with success rate than anything else (this is what I think).But there are a lot of other programs that are as good and will do IVF on women 40+.
Did you try Columbia?

Hey you ~ dropped off the AGP post ~ "DH" was being a REAL "DH" ~ and alot going on here ~ went aunatural last month ~ (got a LITTLE freaked out by the personal email I got after getting the comfortable feeling with all the AGP girls and posted my pics ~ immediately took them ff and will never put back ~ eekkeess~the medhelp staff said they traced it back and it wouldn't happen again...still won't ever post photos on the net again..) ~ am now on day 4 of cycle ~ Cooper Medical Ctr said they would do ~ called to set up accupuncture (hate pain~nervous-have had a nerve test before and hurt like ***LL), just read on ABCs of Fertility: Acupuncture, Babies, Chinese Medicine Part 1 ~ that my antihistamine's may have prevented conception (which NOONE ever told me~even though they knew I was on Sudafed...) ~ so with the accupuncture for fertility, I will also get it for my sinuses (being an asthmatic is such a pain...) ~ but found out the sessions aren't covered by insurance..??..what????....will try and find one that is ~ but if not will gladly pay for the baby ~ the injectibles & office visits were rediculous....how have you been...??....hope all is well....

Forget Cornell-They will never get to see your beautiful baby..their  loss!!!!!
I did acupuncture for the last 6 month.It is not painful ,rather relaxing but I had to stop since it was too costly (twice a week 75 $)and also I'm not sure it really helped in my case...
So I'm done with that even thoug I know it helped a lot of ladies to get pregnant.
I'm seeing a new RE,and she is so much better.I feel less like a lab mice and more as a person.
Going through fresh IVF #3 and hoping it will work this time.

Hi it sounds from discussion that you might be able do IVF with some clinic. I hope you will start soon. And acupuncture is really not painful and it can improve fertility. Let us know how you are doing.

after my 2n ivf 40+ with my own eggs i got pregnant with a beautiful girl. i am going through 5th now. using my own eggs. i believe all things are possible. i use accupuncture and prayer. write meditations and draw pics of pregnant mommies and happy babies. stay positive and trust your body. it is a miracle.

~THANK YOU~!!~~I went for my first acupuncture appt yesterday ~ such a sinch ~ I was ready for it to hurt like the ECG I went through (OUCH!) ~ but could only feel little pinch..if that ~

~PS~Have appt set for the 30th @Cooper ~ Contacted last RE and told them Cooper does IVF up to 48 with much success, and if they change their mind to let us know ~ reponse from RE was they would do all the ultrasounds & bloodwork to save me gas..??..~what ~ they'll do that but not the IVF..??..~I haven't responded to them yet ~ don't know what to say...

I am glad you started acupuncture. I am sure it will help you. So it sounds that at Cooper they do IVF over 40?
I just got my period after transfer that was canceled. I was told by my RE to come on 8th day for scan. I am so scared of another failure...But it was nice to hear from my RE that his 46 year old pt. got pregnant on natural cycle and with her own eggs. And stormmoya also got pregnant over 40 with her own eggs... so it is possible and I hope we will both soon have good news. Have you done yet FSH and estrogen?

..I had follow up apointments scheduled for today & friday ~ and the office called yesterday to postpone them due to a family emergency ~ so now I am on the hunt for another close by ~ I swear if it isn't one thing, it's another ~....YES ~ I hope we ALL get good news SOON~!!~~:-}
