If I get my period does that really mean I didn't ovulate

Ok so I'm starting to get little spotting.  I'm guessing AF is coming.  So does that mean that I truly didn't ovulate this month or does it mean I did possibly and just didn't get my egg fertilized?

I use a basel body thermometer for my temps, my CM i use my hands...lol and to see if I ovulate I use the OPK's but have gotten 1 positive on ovulation.  Having PCOS just suc*s because you aren't ever sure when you're period will come or when exactly you'll be ovulating.

Thanks again Lynnipooh

HI,

You are welcome!  I was confused by that before I asked the doc.  I have been off the pill for 7 years and at best i was getting my period on my own 2 times a year. so those 2 times i ovulated...then i didnt have a period for over a year and we wanted to TTC so we went to the doc!

So now you need to figure out when you are ovulating so you can make sure to BD during that time.  How are you tracking it? BBT, CM or OPK?

I use OPK but i have yet to get a positive one :( I know that with PCOS I could get a false positive but I wonder if I could get a False negative?   Guess I will have to Google that!

Have a great Day

Ok so I'm getting my period on my own and have been now for the past 4 months.  So that means I've been ovulating on my own just not conceiving... I'll take that at least.  I'm just so confused but so glad you ladies are here to help answer questions!  Thank you ladies!

hi
My case is similar to yours if I've understood correctly.
I don't ovulate so I don't get my period (I may get my period on my own every 2 to 3 months, so I guess I do ovulate once every 2 to 3 months).

Provera works for me as well to get the period, I took it so many times. And Clomid to induce ovulation worked for my first pregnancy.

Now i'm trying for the second baby, and clomid isn't working. In august I failed to ovulate even with clomid, so now i'm dung IVF.

Good luck, I think you should be able to get pregnant with the right ovulation drugs.

best luck

I have an-ovulation due to PCOS! My an-ovulation is different from what pesce talked about. I do not get my periods on my own and need to use Provera to induce AF.
I have probably had PCOS since i first started getting AF...  Doc told me if I get my period naturally then I did ovulate but fail to conceive.  This is my second cycle using Provera to induce AF so I did not ovulation first month on Clomid.

I had not had a period in a year before starting Provera and Clomid.  We shall see if I ovulate this month.  Took first OPK yesterday and It was negative.  I bought the kind with the smiley faces so there is no confusion if the line is dark enough!  I got a 20 day kit and I plan to use 1 a day for 20 days......right up to when I should get AF (if naturally)

SSBD!

I'm not a doctor, bur unless you have an an anovulatory cycle ( a menstrual cycle in which ovulation fails to occur) you need to ovulate to get your period.
If you have a regular cycle you will ovule around day 14 and if you don't get pregnant you will have your period usually after 14 days.
So as far as I know it is the opposite if you get your period you had ovulated but didn't get pregnant. (Unless anovulatory cycle). The reasons why you didn't get pregnant may be several.... Good luck

I did take a test and it come out negative.  I'm on day 15 DPO, had sex this morning and started to spot afterwards.  In reading all this stuff online I can across an article that said if I get my period on such date that it meant that I didn't ovulate.  So now I'm just damn confused again.

there is a difference betwn spotting and getting your period.  your period is when your body sheds the lining of the uterus.  If a fertilized egg implants itself into the uterus wall then you would not get your period (shedding of the uterus wall).  sometimes a women will spot a little bit when the egg makes its implantation.   best advice - take a pregnancy test.  whether or not the egg did not get fertilized, you did not ouvulate, it did not reach its destination, the egg was not a good size, etc an expert could only tell you.  Couples within the age range of 30-35 having unprotected sex during ovulation only have a 20% chance of concieving.  the miracle of life.
