It seems that a lot of people these days (myself included) are moved to Femara when they don't respond to Clomid. It's basically the same type of pill since it tricks your body into making more estrogen
to cause ovulation, but it works in a different way. There have been a lot of posts about it recently. I think moving to injectibles is another option too, but I'm not familiar with those. Hopefully someone else can shed some light on that for you. Good luck! I hope the 150 works for you and you don't have to worry about what's next!!
The meds and trigger shots are new to me (will be starting it this coming month) but my RE said that when i go in on day 12 if there are no mature/dominant follicles
that i will come back in three days for another ultrasound and then get the trigger that day if there is a mature one.. however the same thought crossed my mind, i'm scared -what if there isn't one either time... but hopefully there will be! is this your first round of clomid?? Good luck!
Hi there....
Yes, I was told the same thing, I will go on my day 11 and then if there will be no mature f yet, then I will come back few days later, and again, if no mature fol, then we will regroup with my RE..I was not told yet what we are going to do next, so I am praying for mature fol! it is my third round of Clomid, 50, then 100, now 150....
When you had your first ultrasound on CD 3, did they tell you that you might have few good mature follicles
each time. I also had an IUI each time. I then switched to Femara plus Follisitm 75 injections, produced 6 follicles on the first try, had an IUI and am now 5 weeks, 6 days pregnant!
If your RE thinks Femara is a waste of time, then perhaps that means they'll move on to injectaables straightaway. Have you had an HSG to be sure your tubes are clear? If not, I would do it, mainly b/c it increases your chance of fertility for a few weeks b/c it clears out the tubes. Also, I am sure your husband's sperm has been tested to be sure there are no issues there?
Are you doing IUI or timed intercourse? Either way, I believe injectables made the difference for me ultimately. I was pretty discouraged on Clomid. Good Luck!!!!!!
Thank you dear, your info is very helpful!
So yes, I did HSG and my tubes are good, also my dh's sperm is pretty good too, so we got no issues there....
I hope 150 Clomid helps me and if not then I guess we will move to injectables. My RE also said that sometimes low dose doesn't help so they will move to a higher dose...does that mean that each incrrease dose is a different cycle? Did you get pregnant the first time you did injectables?
No, I never had IUI done...I was told that if I produce mature f, then I will do trigger shot and then I will have intercourse. If my lining is too thick, they will do IUI.
Im kind of confused already...I wonder why your RE moved from Clomid to Femara? I thought injectables itself should make you Ovulate?
Thanks!
Yes, I did get pregnant my first month on injectables. And I really don't fully understand the combo with Femara either, to be truthful, but hey, it worked! I do know that both the medications help produce multiple follicles, but I believe my trigger shot is actually what caused ovulatuon--technically. I probably would have ovulated on my own with the 6 mature follicles that resulted from the meds, though. But, timing is everything, as I am sure you know! We backed up the IUI with intercourse, so I am not sure which one worked, but I do know that IUI greatly increases the chance of pregnancy. My dh's sperm was fine also, but everything I can do to help, I would do!!!
Thanks!
My problem is that I have PCOS and I don't have periods on my own, so I take Provera every month to induce the period and then I take Clomid..
I wonder if my clomid will develop few mature follicles so that we can do trigger shot and then intercourse and then IUI.. that way, I might get pregnant! God I wish!
Im just scared that this Saturday, CD 11, I will not have developed follicles and then we will move to injectables..
Can you tell me more about injectables? Can you describe the whole process?
You can email me that way we can talk offline and I will have your email in my records in case I need to ask my RE.
THANKS!~
Yea, I have heard a lot of people go from clomid to femara and it work for them, but not sure if they added anything else along with that... who knows! I haven't had my ultrasound this cycle yet (had a lap two weeks ago and waiting for AF to start to start all of this -femara, trigger, progesterone etc). However I've had several ultrasounds on nonmedicated cycles and I know there were a lot of follies there, not sure if there were any dominant ones (plus the timing was never near O since we were watching a cyst). What exactly are injectables? is that differnet than a trigger?? I keep hearing so much about them, but not sure I understand! Good luck to you! hopefully This will be the cycle and you won't have to try anything else! : )
Hi,
Yes I am confused about trigger shot and injectables..As far as I understand, trigger shot iis done when you have dominant follicles ( I also have many follicles but no dominant one) to help you to prepare for pregnancy. And injectables induce Ovulation ...if that makes sense :)
Thanks, so its just a stronger form of ovulation induction (like clomid or femara). My RE mentioned that if we didnt' get a BFP within two cycles of our plan, then we would move onto stronger ovulation inductors that would most likely release more than one or two eggs (he didn't want to start there due to my age and risk of multiples - i'm 27 so I guess thats a higher risk for multiples). so we'll see! Good luck with everything!!
Yes, and I was told by my RE the same thing-the injectables give you a high risk of multiples and REs usually start with weaker things.
Did your RE tell you that your age is a high risk for multiples? Im 24 and my RE just said that injectables produce more then 1 egg many times..
