AF should come 14 days after your O'ed so should be 8 days from now. Hopefully she don't come though. Did you detect a surge or did your re monitor you for your surge?
My RE monitored me with u/s. I just researched late ovulation/late period on the web and a woman said you get your period when you usually get it and late ovulation doesn't affect it.
I just revisited that yahoo page and read the other responses. Three or so people said late O does cause late AF. Just the first response says the opposite.
I left a message at my RE's office for the nurse to call me back about this.
I'm feeling a little better about reading those other responses but I prefer to hear the answer from the nurse. Hopefully they will call me back soon.
unless you have a short luteal phase, you would get after 13-14 days after o. since it was monitored, that's when you should expect it. if you normally o that late and then get af so soon, that could be part of the problem! hopefully this cycle with meds and monitoring got it fixed! good luck - but you should not test until 11-12 days after o regardless of when af is expected.
I don't seem to have problem with too short of a luteal phase. My O was triggered with Novarel and O was later than usual. When I looked at my calendar I saw that AF was due in just a few days and that really worried me into thinking I had no chance this cycle. But if late O makes late AF then she's not due until around 11/13. I'm a big believer in testing beginning on 12dpo/dpiui, but being a POAS addict I tend to test as early as 9dpo. Silly, I know!
did you take other injectables prior to novarel? clomid makes me O later in the cycle. as much as 4-5 days. since you triggered, you pretty much know what day to count from, so don't count cycle days, count post O days! I'm guilty of the 9dpo test! but it hasn't proved a successful strategy for me!
I agree with the other ladies. I used to have a short luteal phase, 9 or so days & after using progesterone & then clomid, it lengthened quite a bit. Now it's 15+ days. With clomid, some cycles I O'd later than usual & I still had that 14+ day luteal phase & other cycles, I O'd early, around cd14 & still had a 14+ day lp. I know it's easy for me to say, but try not to worry too much. I'm sure when you hear from your nurse, you will feel much better! :) Good, luck to you !!!
I've always read that late O definitely causes late AF so I think you're OK! :) In fact I've had some weird cycles lately where I definitely O'd late and AF was also 'late'.
My bday is 11/13 so hopefully you'll get your BFP by then!!!!!! SSBD Sue!
However many days you usually have after O (I have a 16 day luteul phase) is how long it should be even thought you O'ed later. Hope this helps!!! Good luck girl! Crossing everything for you!!!
Thanks girls. I really appreciate all the info. The nurse didn't call back today but I feel at ease after reading all your posts. I'll let you know what the nurse says tomorrow.
The nurse from my RE's office just called. Late O definitely causes late AF. I'm so relieved to hear that. I feel we have a shot now! I've had cramps all morning, but that's normal for me in the tww.
Hey, how do you count iui days? Do you count the day of as 1dpiui or the next day?
Hi Sue,
I just read through this thread and was going to write exactly what the other ladies and nurse said: Late O causes late AF. Hang in there! I'd love it (as I'm sure you and your hubby would) if you could join the BFP club this month as opposed to next month (and I write 'next month' because I'm sure it's going to happen sooner than later for you.)
All the best, you go girl!
