Is BETA a reg pg blood test?

Hi Ladies,
Hey is a BETA test a regular blood test for pregnancy.  Like if I go to the lab and say I want a blood pregnancy test would that be a BETA or do I have to specifically ask for it?  I havent even got a (+) hpt, too scared to test as AF isnt due to show until Sunday or Monday and I dont want to see a BFN!  How accurate would it be if I did do a hpt now?  I want to but I am scared.  I am sooo hopeful this cycle.  I just have a feeling this could be it.  I will probably know better tommorrow by my bbt.  If it goes up again a little I will be very happy, but if It drops again a little I will kinda know.  Well thank you in advance for any responses on the BETA question.  Good luck to all of you. A beta blood test is the same as a quantitative blood test, where they measure the actual level of HCG. There's also a qualitative blood test, which only shows positive when the levels are above a certain number. Hope that helps :-)
