Is it okay that I am only developing one mature follicle on clomid?
Hi! I have been trying for a year now to conceive. I had a chemical pregnancy in April 2007. Since then it has been nothing but tests. My husbands semen analysis is fine. I had a hysterosalpingogram and it was great. My progesterone is always great...very high actually. I ovulate every month and get a period regularly. So needless to say ..my doctor put me on Clomid 50mg to get a better or more viable egg or more than 1. I develop one great sized follicle
? Oh, I also will be doing an iui this month due to a negative post coital test. My doctor thinks I have hostile mucus because all of the sperm were dead and my husbands semen analysis was great! What is your input on my situation?
One good, mature follie is certainly enough to get pregnant! Did your doc seem concerned that you only had one? I've done clomid, 50 mg, about six times now, and I've had as many as 8 mature follicles
, and as little as 1, and my doctor has never been concerned. I finally got pregnant on 50 mg clomid and IUI my second try five years ago, and I only had 2 follicles
Thanks a bunch. I am new to this but let me tell you how great it feels to talk to people that are going through it. Thanks again. My doctor said things are very promising and he is very optimistic. He has not at all seemed concerned. I guess this is okay? I wonder why some months you get 8 and others only 1?
. We did IUI with one follicle and now I'm 35wk pg. One is all you need. Especially if the problem is mucus because the IUI will overcome that.
Best of luck to you!!!
Oh and about the clomid. I read that if you take it earlier in your cycle, you are more likely to develop multiple mature follicles. For instance if you take it cd2-6 instead of 5-9. The reason for this is, by cd5 you will already have a dominant follicle but if you take it on cd2 you won't already have a dominant follicle so more of them will mature. The problem with this is, the risks of multiple births. The health risks to the babies and mother are much higher than singleton pg.
Well I am glad to hear that a big follicle as big as 32mm mean it is a viable one....I am not on clomid...I tried Femara for the first time and the follicle grew so big in CD14. I have done Clomid for 6 cycle with no luck...and I never saw my follicle grow above 18mm, which is when they gave me a trigger shot. However, this time, when they did the US it was already 32mm so they could not give me a HSG shot. got the lh suge the next day and then IUI in the subsequent 2 days. I have my fingers crossed. Have youe ever heard the follicle grow so Big ?
